Meet Mariela Cruz-Suarez who will be joining our team in early 2025 as an Events Production Intern .

Mariela is a first-year student at Georgetown University, hailing from Los Angeles, California. She is the first in her family to attend college. Mariela is passionate about creating equitable education opportunities for low-income students and aspires to become a lawyer specializing in education policy. At Georgetown, Mariela designs graphics for The Voice, a student-run publication, and celebrates her cultural heritage as a dancer with Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Georgetown. She is excited to contribute to Books Breaking Borders’ mission this spring.
