Meet Trevor Veeder: An active-duty U.S. Army cavalry scout who participated in Warrior-Scholar Project’s academic boot camp at Cornell University to prepare for his return to school after several years away from the classroom. 📚

Entering the program, Trevor hoped to strengthen his writing skills and adjust to an academic environment again. Throughout the week, he gained confidence through discussions, coursework, and collaboration with peers who challenged him to think differently and engage more deeply with new ideas. 💡

One of his biggest takeaways was learning about imposter syndrome and realizing how common it is. Understanding that helped him reframe his doubts and feel more confident in his ability to succeed in higher education. 🤝

Meet Don Beamon: A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and air delivery specialist (parachute rigger) 🪂, Don attended Warrior-Scholar Project’s academic boot camp at Brown University as he prepared to begin classes there. 📚

As student at UMass Boston, Don came into the program hoping to feel more prepared for the pace and expectations of an Ivy League classroom. At first, he struggled with imposter syndrome—but throughout the week, he became more comfortable speaking up, getting feedback, and learning alongside peers and professors. 💬

One of his biggest takeaways was that mindset isn’t fixed—it shifts depending on the situation, and the right tools and strategies can make a huge difference. 💡 He also left the program with more confidence in his writing, especially when it comes to structuring essays and building stronger transitions. ✍️
