Join us on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET for Building Relationships with Student and Local Media: Telling Your Student Voting Story!

Student and local journalists are some of your most important partners in strengthening student civic participation. In this training hosted by Students Learn Students Vote, campus vote leaders will learn how to build authentic, long-term relationships with media members that elevate student voices and expand access to clear, credible voting information.

Timed with Local News Day, this session will explore why local and student media matter, how they serve as trusted validators in your community, and how proactive outreach can shape stronger election coverage.

We hear a lot about division—not so much what we can do about it. But we all have the power to build connections in our communities, and it can start with small conversations.

At Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, alongside our partners at Grace Episcopal Church and Project Unity, we helped people come together to listen, share, and connect.

Check out our website to learn more about our Together We Dine series, which happens all across Texas. https://www.cg-usa.org/resilient-states-project/texas

Young people are apathetic. Divided. Too online to care about real connection. That's the narrative, but here's what's actually happening.

Every time young people are given real tools for dialogue, they show up. Because the hunger for connection across difference doesn't disappear with age. In many cases, it starts there.

Swipe to see the real data on Gen Z, dialogue, and the future of bridge-building in America.

Bridge-building is one of those phrases that sounds good but can feel vague. So let's make it concrete.

It looks like a room full of people who disagree and choosing to stay in it.
It looks like leaders asking the right questions instead of the loudest ones.
It looks like faith communities who are equipped to address polarization head-on.

This is what Common Ground USA does every day. And it works.

Most of us were taught how to debate. Very few of us were taught how to have real dialogue. And that difference? It's everything.

Debate = trying to win.
Discussion = exchanging information.
Dialogue = trying to understand.

Only one of those actually builds trust and moves things forward. Swipe to learn the difference — and how Common Ground USA trains people to do it well. 🔄

So when clarity breaks down in our public conversations, who actually benefits? And who ends up paying the cost? Looking past symbolism and into systems can help us ask better questions and have better conversations.

Most Americans want to get along. So why does it feel impossible? 👇

Common Ground USA exists because division isn't just uncomfortable — it's dangerous. And most of us never signed up for this level of conflict.

We're CGUSA, a nonprofit that turns conflict into collaboration. Not by asking people to agree on everything, but by building the trust and tools that make working together possible — across politics, race, faith, and geography.

Swipe to learn who we are, what we do, and how you can be part of it.

When violence happens, fear can divide us even further, making everyone more unsafe. After the shooting in Austin, Texas over the weekend, there have been spikes in anti-Muslim rhetoric in the state. Our Muslim neighbors deserve the same safety and belonging that we all want and deserve. It is up to each of us to reject this kind of hate that drives cyclical violence and creates a society where no one is comfortable.

Violence is fueled by division. Division can end with us.

After a deadly downtown shooting, Texas Muslims report fear and backlash as political rhetoric intensifies and Austin’s first Muslim city council member responds.

In moments of public escalation, speed feels powerful. Calling things out. Responding immediately. Making noise. It can look like and feel like accountability. But real accountability often looks different.

It looks like discipline, containment. Slowing the temperature instead of raising it.
It’s less visible and can be less satisfying in the moment, but it creates space for repair. And repair is what actually holds communities together. What holds US together.

Some mid-week reflection.
Moving forward takes intention. It means choosing courage over fear and connection over division, even when it’s hard. Hope isn’t passive. It’s a decision we make together.
