Heart of America Every student everywhere deserves a great education.

We are a national 501c3 that has been working with key partners in under-resourced communities to renovate educational spaces and provide a spectrum of resources to ensure, all students have access to learning technologies, grade-level books, high-quality school supplies, and more. Through public/private partnerships with corporations, as well as government entities, the organization has worked to transform spaces and address inequities, leveraging thousands of volunteers and infusing resources throughout the process. SINCE 1997 WE HAVE:
• Designed, renovated and reopened 800 community spaces including public libraries, athletic facilities, technology labs, workforce development centers and schools across the U.S, Puerto Rico, and Canada
• Engaged 500,000 volunteers in turnkey community service.
• Distributed over 4.1 million books to more than 2 million children.
• Infused more than $7.5 million in learning technologies into high needs communities.
• Provided more than 30,000 student resource packs since April 2020.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! 💛

Stories carry culture. Books open doors. And every student deserves to see their experiences, traditions, and possibilities reflected in what they read and learn.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the generations of Hispanic and Latino authors, educators, leaders, and changemakers whose stories, ideas, and contributions continue to shape our communities.

Here’s to making room for more voices, more stories, and more possibilities for every student. 📚✨

We’re back at Maxfield Elementary and this time, we’re making space for makers. 🔧💡

In 2009, Heart of America transformed Maxfield’s library in what became our very first Target School Library Makeover. Nearly two decades later, we’re returning to the school to transform a classroom into a dedicated Makerspace STEAM Lab.

The new space will give Maxfield’s 320 students more room to build, create, experiment, and explore, including a dedicated place for the school’s First Robotics and Sumo Robotics clubs to practice and grow.

It’s also a space teachers can bring their classes to turn big ideas into something students can see, touch, test, and make.

This project is made possible through a powerful partnership between Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood , 3M , Protolabs , Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, Saint Paul Public Schools SPPS , and Maxfield Elementary.

We love coming full circle and we can’t wait to see what Maxfield students make next. 💛

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a time to honor Indigenous histories, living cultures, and the generations carrying their stories forward. 💛

It’s also a time to acknowledge painful histories, listen to Indigenous voices, and recognize the strength of communities continuing to protect their cultures, lands, and futures.

Through our work alongside Indigenous communities, including Skip the Grid Cal Poly on Navajo Nation, we’re reminded that meaningful partnerships begin with listening, respect, and learning from one another.

Today and every day, we honor Indigenous voices, stories, and futures.

From engineering to robotics to advanced manufacturing, the future is looking a little more hands-on at ATEC Academy. ⚙️

Heart of America and 3M are transforming three spaces into upgraded environments for engineering, robotics, mechatronics, and metals learning.

With new equipment, flexible workspaces, and a setup designed around real-world skills, students will have more opportunities to build, test, create, and explore careers in technical fields.

And with nearly 1,200 students at ATEC Academy, that opportunity has a pretty big reach.

We’re proud to continue building the future with 3M through the Future Makers Lab initiative. 🔧

September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation a day to honor residential school Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and listen to Indigenous voices.

Orange Shirt Day began with Phyllis Webstad's story and has grown into an Indigenous-led movement centered on truth, remembrance, and reconciliation.

While Heart of America is based in the United States, our work with Indigenous communities, including our Student Solar work across Navajo Nation, has taught us the importance of listening, learning, and showing up with respect.

Today, we're taking time to listen and learn. 🧡
