Two evenings, two incredible events in Washington, D.C. — and you don't want to miss either of them!

Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Washington, D.C. is marking two historic milestones — the 35th anniversary of Slovenian independence and the 250th anniversary of American independence — with a very special cultural program next week.

The evening opens with a fireside chat with Ronald M. Sega, former NASA astronaut 🚀 — followed by the opening of the exhibition DELAK :: "Hardly Noticeable Wave" and a live informance of DELAK::TANK by Slovenian director Aljosa Zivadinov Zupancic. Slovenian contemporary art, live, in the heart of D.C.

Members of the American-Slovenian Club (ASC) had the honor of joining a special gathering at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Washington, D.C.., for a visit by Dr. Aleš Musar, First Gentleman of the Republic of Slovenia.

The event, held during his participation in the "Fostering the Future Together" program hosted by Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, sparked an engaging discussion on the rapid technological and social shifts impacting our work and schools. We found it particularly insightful to compare the educational approaches of Slovenia and the U.S., specifically regarding the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence in education and the integrity of the data and information it relies on.

We also explored how these advancements will inevitably transform the roles of educators—shifting from traditional instruction toward becoming facilitators of critical thinking.

These kinds of exchanges ensure that countries grow stronger by sharing knowledge and navigating the future together.

🇸🇮 Ambassador Mirošič hosted the meeting with the CEO and other representatives of the highly successful Slovenian company Sibo as well as the president of the American-Slovenian Club.

Sibo, which develops and manufactures packaging for the pharmaceutical industry, among others, established its U.S. subsidiary in 2021.

The current housing market and affordability crisis is painful for many Americans, while it represents an opportunity for foreign investment in U.S. real estate, which is surging—and for Eurozone investors, the timing couldn’t be better.

Nearly half of those purchases were made in cash, giving foreign investors a clear edge in a market where U.S. buyers are often limited by higher borrowing costs.

Florida, California, Texas, New York, Arizona and the DMV, where I am from, continue to attract the most international attention—offering strong rental demand, tourism, and long-term growth potential.

𝐃𝐨𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐬̌𝐥𝐢 𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐚 je bil eden od sloganov srečanja v Novi Gorici z naslovom "Posluj s Slovenci in zmaguj, v organizaciji Urad Vlade RS za Slovence v zamejstvu in po svetu.
🎤Na pogovoru o tem kakšna je moč povezovanja podjetnic v globalnem svetu je sodelovala naša Urša Prepeluh Magajne in poudarila prednost, ki jo imajo mame v Sloveniji pri razvoju lastne kariere. Državni vrtci namreč dopuščajo, da ženske lažje vstopajo nazaj na trg dela. Je pa prednost dela v tujini vsekakor velika možnost napredovanja, če se izkažeš v znanju in kompatencah.
➡️Tako kot pri nas, je tudi v ZDA potrebno, da si zgradiš veliko mrežo poznanstev, da sodeluješ v lokalni skupnosti, poiščeš mantorje, klube s podobnimi interesi, kot je tudi naš American-Slovenian Club.
🌏Predvsem pa prevladuje velika toleranca do neuspeha, ki je pri nas velikokrat glavna zavora za vztrajnost pri uresničevanju svojih sanj.
Hvala Urša, da smo te lahko gostili v Sloveniji in hvala tudi za nesebično predajanje tvojega znanja in izkušenj naprej.
