Patriotic Millionaires

Patriotic Millionaires We're a group of American millionaires fighting to tax the rich, pay the people, and spread the power!

Proud “traitors to their class,” members of the Patriotic Millionaires are high-net worth Americans, business leaders, and investors who are united in their concern about the destabilizing concentration of wealth and power in America. The mission of The Patriotic Millionaires organization is to build a more stable, prosperous, and inclusive nation by promoting public policies based on the “first p

rinciples” of equal political representation, a guaranteed living wage for all working citizens, and a fair tax system:

1. All citizens should enjoy political power equal to that enjoyed by millionaires;
2. All citizens who work full time should be able to afford their basic needs;
3. Tax receipts from millionaires, billionaires and corporations should comprise a greater proportion of federal tax receipts.

Millionaires in North Carolina are stepping up to challenge politicians and say: tax us more and fund our public schools. 📚💸

It’s time to get our priorities straight and raise taxes on incomes over $1 million and invest in North Carolina students instead of endless tax breaks for the rich. Priorities matter.

Democratic lawmakers say North Carolina could raise an extra $1 billion a year for public schools just by taxing the richest few top earners at 7% rather than the current 3.99% tax rate.

This whole piece is just *perfect*

"It must be hard to hear people say shocking things such as: 'Maybe we should restructure the tax code so the ultra-rich don’t pay lower effective tax rates than teachers.'”

Chef's 👏 kiss 👏

No wonder they are upset by the slogan ‘tax the rich’. Despite their wealth increasing 81% since 2020, they need our emotional support now more than ever, writes Arwa Mahdawi

Erica Payne asked North Carolina House Majority Leader Brenden Jones if he would meet with his constituents about raising the minimum wage. His response? Slam the door and walk away.🚪 How’s that for putting working people first?

Yesterday, Team Money was out in Fayetteville, North Carolina, meeting with Tar Heels, encouraging folks to register to vote, and spreading the word about The MONEY Agenda.

Because an economy that works for everyone starts with a democracy where everyone takes part.

North Carolina's regressive tax system shifts the tax burden away from millionaires like our members & onto working people. Currently, the bottom 20% of earners pay 10.5% of their income in state & local taxes, while the top 1% pays 6.0%.

Right now, thanks to eight years’ worth of tax cuts from Congress and the North Carolina General Assembly, the top 1% will pay about $5 billion less in taxes this year than they otherwise would have.

Meanwhile, public schools suffer devastating budget blows.

A new bill would change all of this.

That's why Patriotic Millionaires are thrilled to see Rep. Allen Buansi introduce the Fair Share for Public Schools Act, which would make the state's tax code fairer and give schools the critical infusion of funds they need to get off life support.

The bill would establish a 7% income surtax on income over $1 million and direct the revenues raised to the State Public School Fund.

Tax season is over, and the “biggest refund ever” never showed up.

Instead, families are facing higher costs and cuts to health care and food assistance. All while the wealthy got the biggest breaks.

That’s not a fair economy. It’s a rigged one.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a budget deal yesterday, but it’s not over until it's over.

In a new op-ed for Times Union, our Chair, Morris Pearl, calls on Hochul to go further in taxing New York millionaires like him – before it’s too late.

Don't believe the hype: We won't leave the state. And New York needs the money to patch holes left by federal funding cuts.

As Patriotic Millionaires president Erica Payne put it in Fast Company today, “The only thing that will collapse if we tax billionaires at an appropriate level is an over-inflated ego or two... and I think that would be a wonderful thing for all of us.”
