🌿 This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor Indigenous communities, their enduring traditions, and the ancestral knowledge passed down through generations.

Human milk feeding is more than nourishment. It is a practice rooted in connection, culture, and care. Honoring Indigenous breastfeeding traditions means recognizing the lasting impacts of colonization while uplifting Indigenous leadership, cultural knowledge, and community-led approaches to breastfeeding and lactation support.

Today and every day, we celebrate the knowledge and traditions that continue to nourish families and communities.

Strong families need policies that support them at work and at home.

Paid family and medical leave can give families the time and financial support they need during important life moments like welcoming a new baby. This National Work and Family Month, urge Congress to support the FAMILY Act and help advance policies that strengthen family well-being and economic security.

October is . While breastfeeding is often discussed in the context of infant health, its benefits extend to mothers, too.

Breastfeeding is associated with a lower risk of developing breast cancer, one of the many ways human milk feeding can support health across the life course. Ensuring families have access to the information, resources, and support they need to meet their feeding goals is an important part of supporting healthier families and communities.

This , we’re celebrating the diversity of Hispanic and Latino families and the community knowledge that helps families nourish and care for their babies.

We also recognize that families need more than individual support to reach their feeding goals. Culturally responsive care, community-based support, supportive workplaces, paid leave, and policies that remove barriers all play a role.

What organizations, programs, or resources are supporting Hispanic and Latino breastfeeding families in your community? Share them with us: https://bit.ly/4AmvANQ
