With a decade of experience as a prosecutor, Senior State Policy Manager Estrella López has seen firsthand how policies shape real lives, real communities, and real outcomes. Those experiences fuel her commitment to smart, evidence-based reforms that strengthen public safety, expand opportunity, and help every community thrive.

She believes deeply in the power of bipartisan problem-solving, in listening to the people most affected, and in the impact that thoughtful state-level policy can have nationwide. She’s already begun witnessing the energy that happens when lawmakers learn from each other, spark new ideas, and work together toward meaningful change.

We’re grateful to have her voice, her perspective, and her drive on the team and excited for the impact ahead.

We had the honor of sitting down with Tiffani Shaw, an Employment Navigator with JusticeLink and a proud advocate for second chances in Oklahoma to talk about why fines and fees reform is so important. Her story is a powerful reminder of why we do this work.

Thanks to recent reforms through HB 1460, more Oklahomans like Tiffani will have the opportunity to rebuild their lives with fewer burdensome fines and fees upon re-entry.

Uplifting the stories of individuals directly impacted by policy change is important, and what makes this work so rewarding.

Meet Estrella López, the new Senior State Policy Manager for JANF!

After ten years as a prosecutor in New Jersey, Estrella saw firsthand how justice policies impact real people. That experience led her from the courtroom to the world of policy, most recently leading reform campaigns at the Council of State Governments.

Now, as our Senior State Policy Manager, she brings deep legal insight and a passion for fairness to our state-level reform work.

We are excited to welcome her to the team, where her legal expertise and advocacy experience will be invaluable to our state-level legislative reform efforts.💙⚖️

We’ve invested time, energy, and resources into building relationships with lawmakers and bringing transformational change to Arizona since 2016. From major civil asset forfeiture reform, occupational licensing reform, independent correctional oversight, to driver’s license suspension reform with retroactive reinstatement, we are helping to translate advocacy into real policy change for Arizonans.

We’re grateful for Veridus’ Shaun Rieve, whose on-the-ground expertise and partnership with JAN helps ensure these reforms become law and truly make a difference for many Arizonans.
