For more than forty five years, the Migrant Legal Action Program (MLAP) has provided legal representation and a national voice for migrant and seasonal farmworkers and immigrants, the poorest group of working people in the United States. MLAP works to enforce rights and to improve public policies affecting farmworkers' working and housing conditions, education, health, nutrition, and general welfa

Here is a wonderful story about a Salinas farmworker who just earned his bachelors with honors at 58 years old! Now he wants to give back to his community as a teacher. This article describes his amazing story, from leaving his native Oaxaca, Mexico to working in the fields of California, of the barriers he faced and the triumphs he achieved, for his family, his community, and eventually, his own education.
