As the new SNAP rules take effect, states face a choice: comply narrowly and risk pushing workers out of both assistance and opportunity or use this moment to strengthen the bridge between safety net programs and skill development.

“As the report highlights, we need to modernize how workers find good jobs and how businesses find skilled workers. Starving an already underfunded system would move us in the wrong direction.” — Katie Spiker, Chief of Federal Affairs, National Skills Coalition

A timely reminder from the recent "Talent Strategy" report—without meaningful investment and structural reform, efforts to streamline workforce development risk falling flat. Modern, coordinated systems demand both vision and funding.
