🆕 NEW POLL ALERT: It’s not surprising that the majority of American voters want to reduce single-use plastic foam!

This problematic plastic, used for products like disposable cups, plates, and food containers, is not only harmful to our oceans, but also poses significant health risks to people. Styrene — the building block of plastic foam — is considered a probable carcinogen and has been found to leach out of plastic foam food containers.

TAKE ACTION! Tell your elected officials — support new laws to tackle plastic foam pollution at the source before it’s too late! >> https://oceana.ly/3EnRUhz

👏 The Biden administration has committed to a plastic-free government! The administration announced that they will phase out single-use plastics across the federal government by 2035, and from its food service operations, events, and packaging by 2027. Oceana applauds for this new plan that will help protect our oceans, climate, and communities!

DID YOU KNOW: An estimated 10 TRILLION tiny plastic pellets, called nurdles, pollute marine ecosystems worldwide each year. And right now, there's no national law stopping it!

But Congress has the chance to change that with the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act, which would protect our oceans and marine life.

Use your voice to support this important legislation today: https://oceana.ly/3xIl1bV

“Any size vehicle that’s going too fast on the water poses an extreme threat to North Atlantic Right Whales,” said Oceana's Hermina Glass-Hill.

It’s been two years since NOAA proposed amendments to federal vessel speed restrictions to protect Georgia’s state marine mammal, the North Atlantic Right Whale. Scientists estimate there are only 340 right whales left in the world and boat strikes are one of their top killers.

OP-ED from Oceana Board of Directors Chair, Sam Waterston:

"...North Atlantic right whales are on the verge of disappearing. We know what’s killing them, and we know how to stop it, but our government is doing nothing. President Biden and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo are responsible for issuing the update to the vessel speed rule. They must release it immediately if these magnificent creatures are to have a chance at survival."

SPEAK UP and say farewell to foam!

One of the most common plastics found polluting our beaches and coasts is plastic foam, which is often used for single-use cups, plates, food containers, and packaging. To make matters worse, this plastic easily breaks up into smaller and smaller pieces, making it extremely difficult to clean up. But a new bill in Congress could help change all of that! Add your name to protect our oceans from harmful plastic pollution today: https://oceana.ly/49qoU3j
