Simon Elliott, Brett Heinz, and Kevin Cashman look at important indicators including economic growth, income inequality, and poverty, which generally increased under Honduras's post-coup governments after trending downward in the pre-coup era. Poverty was below 60% during most of the 2006–2009 pre-coup government, but did not fall below 60% again until 2019. It rose to over 73% in 2021 with COVID.
