⭐️ Blessed Raphaël Louis Rafiringa, FSC, was an early pupil at the first Brothers’ school in Madagascar and entered the novitiate in 1878. A gifted teacher and author, he was elected as president of the Catholic Union for all Madagascar which gave him the opportunity to organize and lead catechetical efforts on the island. However, in 1915, he was falsely accused of membership in a prohibited society, arrested and jailed for a year. The imprisonment ruined his health, and he died in 1919. The Institute remembers him for his academic leadership and self-sacrificial service as a catechist and religious.
