On his way to a conference about equity within communities in South Africa Juracàn was targeted and arrested on false charges of aggravated usurpation, arson and trafficking of natural resources.

Leaders and members of these communities will not stand for these repressive and intimidation tactics.

Dos Fuentes has been under attack due to the violence of state and paramilitary forces. This Poqomchi’ Mayan community has been terrorized and forced to migrate from their land.

This community lacks basic healthcare and medicine to maintain the health and safety of their community. GSP is raising $500 to send a medical team to provide emergency medicine and further services to Dos Fuentes.

Marco Antonio Zuleta was assassinated for protecting Guatemala’s forests.
He was a ranger and forest firefighter who denounced illegal logging in the Sierra de las Minas—one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the country. On May 9, he was killed for speaking out.

Sierra de las Minas is home to over 575 species of wildlife and supports more than 200 communities.
His death was an attempt to silence environmental defenders.
