Today, 98.2% of ships in the CLIA member global fleet can produce most of their own freshwater onboard, helping ease the demand on the ports they call home.

▶️ Today, we recognize Coast Guard Day, honoring the founding of the United States Coast Guard and the generations of service members who have protected lives, secured our waterways, and strengthened America's maritime community.

🇺🇸Its story began on August 4, 1790, when Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton established the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service (originally known as the Revenue-Marine), the forerunner of today's United States Coast Guard.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This week, we were delighted to welcome Scottish politicians and government representatives for a ship visit in Edinburgh, kindly hosted by Azamara.

🤝 The visit, just a few months after the Scottish Parliament elections, introduced a cross-party group of newly elected Member of the Scottish Parliament to the role cruise plays in Scotland's tourism industry. We were also pleased to welcome Edinburgh-based Members of Parliament.

▶️ More than a million cruise guests visit Scotland each year, calling at more than 20 ports and destinations across the country. Their visits support local businesses, jobs and communities, particularly in coastal and island areas.
