Introducing the Generation Democracy Alumni Leadership Committee!

We are thrilled to announce the first appointees to the International Republican Institute's Generation Democracy Global Member Advisory Board Alumni Leadership Committee (ALC). This esteemed group, comprised of experienced former GMAB members, will play a vital role in helping guide the future of our network.

The inaugural members of the ALC are:

🔹M.D. Mariam Kasrashvili, research assistant at the Center for Health Economics Research at the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University and the first GMAB President.

🔹2021 GMAB Vice Presidents - Timi Olagunju, MA student at the Harvard Kennedy School and Tech Lawyer and Marwan Abdallah, Head of the Foreign Affairs Department at the Lebanese Kataeb Party.

🔹Juan Manuel Pérez-Cuéllar, 2022 and 2023 GMAB President and Executive Director of Merced Coahuila.

Introducing the GenDem GMAB Alumni Leadership Committee!

We're thrilled to announce the formation of the International Republican Institute’s Generation Democracy Global Member Advisory Board Alumni Leadership Committee (ALC). This new committee will serve as a valuable resource for the sitting GMAB.

The ALC will be comprised of former Presidents and/or Vice Presidents of GenDem, who are no longer eligible for re-election, and will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support to current and future GMAB members through sharing valuable insights and lessons learned from past experiences.

Empowering the Next Generation of Malawi Leaders!

Building on the success of the previous regional activity, our GMAB Representative Wellington Bakaimani implemented a second Generation Democracy program at Pentecostal Life University in Lilongwe, Malawi.

This initiative brought together 42 aspiring young leaders, for a dialogue on democratic principles, civic engagement, and the importance of youth participation in shaping their country's future. The program featured valuable insights from experienced advocates and YALI alumni who shared their own journeys of leadership and impact.

The program also saw active participation of: former GMAB member Indika James Jr., Ndaghakyala Kween Yewo, GenDem 8th Global Summit Impact Award Recipient Dalitso Magelegele, and GenDem member Patience Munyenyembe.

International Republican Institute's Generation Democracy Network will continue to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to become active citizens and foster a stronger sense of civic responsibility among Malawian youth.

Empowering Young Leaders in Tanzania!

International Republican Institute's Generation Democracy East Africa Unity Alliance member Pedius Boniphace recently facilitated a successful workshop in Mwanza, Tanzania, under our CAT3 programs supported by the U.S. Department of State - Office of International Religious Freedom, aimed at fostering mutual understanding and respect among different religious communities.

Hosted by Power Of Youth Development, this impactful program brought together 30 youth leaders for a day of learning and dialogue. Participants explored the principles of Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB), discussed the challenges and violations facing religious communities, and developed strategies to promote interfaith tolerance and address religious discrimination.

The workshop featured insightful discussions with religious leaders, media representatives, and government officials, providing valuable perspectives on the impact of religions within Tanzanian society.

Student Participate Dialogue Zimbabwe

Our GMAB Africa Representative, Wellington Bakaimani, recently led a successful Generation Democracy regional activity that equipped 45 student leaders from Ezekiel Guti University and the Simukaupenye Integrated Youth Academy with the knowledge and skills to become active citizens.

The program, held in Zimbabwe, provided valuable insights into democratic principles, civic engagement, and the importance of youth participation in shaping their country's future. Participants learned from experienced leaders, gaining valuable perspectives on leadership, advocacy, and the challenges facing young people in today's world.

This impactful initiative is building a stronger future for Zimbabwe by empowering young people to become agents of change through International Republican Institute (IRI) Generation Democracy Network.
