The Petals of Primrose Program is a mentoring program for girls, grades 9 – 12, in the greater Washington, DC area. The program is designed to help young ladies flourish in life now, while preparing them to blossom in the future. This is done by offering sessions and activities from community leaders that promote self-confidence and inner growth; offering workshops, and training and development in the areas of health, self-improvement, management, technology and the arts, promoting growth, respect and friendship by encouraging a sensitivity to others’ needs. The program provides a wide range of information, knowledge and opportunities and experiences that focus on values and ethics, designed to promote positive growth and strong decision-making skills. Young ladies enter in the ninth grade and each subsequent year, they are provided with additional exposure to various topics in order to help prepare them for the upcoming year. The young ladies are encouraged to express themselves in an assertive yet lady-like manner.
