We'll gather outdoors for tastes of Islamic meditation: a bit of dhikr (remembrance of Allah), tafakkur (reflection on Allah's signs in the natural world), and tadabbur (deep reflection on a ayah from the Quran).

We'll sit with the sounds of water and birdsong as we contemplate signs of renewal, hope, and divine compassion woven into creation.

Meet at 10AM outside the visitor center at Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens at 1550 Anacostia Ave., NE, Washington, DC 20019.

One of the sunnahs that I absolutely love is sighting the hilal of each Islamic month.

It's one thing to hear that Ramadan is over, Shawwal has begun, and it's time for Eid ul Fitr celebrations.

It's a whole other joyful thing to see the hilal with your own eyes.

🌙🌱 Ramadan is a time for reflection, discipline, and compassion, and that spirit can extend to how we care for the Earth as well.

This thoughtful article explores the idea of a “Green Ramadan” and how simple choices like reducing food waste and avoiding single-use plastics can make our observance more sustainable.

It’s a great reminder that stewardship of the planet is part of our responsibility as people of faith. Take a moment to read and reflect: https://islamichorizons.net/green-ramadan-brings-sustainability-to-the-holy-month/

Last slide: Pun intended.

Single-use culture is a symptom of ghaflah/ heedlessness.

Reusables train responsibility, mindfulness, and ihsan.

Let's keep flexing our ihsan muscles that we've built up after hours of fasting DURING the iftar.

🌙 Join us to learn how to sight the hilal of Ramadan inshaAllah.

📍Meet at Northwest Stadium at 5:30PM in the parking lot with the solar panels.

Bring your prayer rug, your wudhu, and an intention to perform the sunnah of looking for the hilal.

Make sure you dress for the weather.

We'll pray maghrib and start our search inshaAllah.
