Abramson Scholarship Foundation Its primary mission is to provide financial and mentoring support to District of Columbia public high school graduates attending four year colleges.

The Abramson Scholarship Foundation provides critical financial assistance and comprehensive mentoring to promising DC public high school graduates attending four-year colleges. Colleagues and friends of Fred Abramson, a prominent and civic-minded Washington lawyer who died at a young age, established the Abramson Scholarship Foundation in 1991 in his memory. The Foundation carries out its mission through parallel and integrated Scholarship and Mentoring Programs.

We had an incredible time at the 2026 DC Postsecondary Success Summit!
It was energizing to come together with postsecondary practitioners and supporters from across the city, all committed to advancing student success.

We had the pleasure of facilitating a Community Connection and Data Walk session and tabling at the resource fair. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about our Scholar and mentor programs. We truly appreciated the opportunity to share our work and build new connections!

Mentors play a vital part in supporting our Abramson Scholars throughout their college journey. As a mentor, you will:

- Promote career readiness by helping Scholars develop resumes and LinkedIn profiles, prepare for interviews, and utilize the ASF Advisor Network and career resources
- Communicate regularly with ASF and share Scholar's successes and challenges
- Attend Abramson events and mentor trainings throughout the year

We were thrilled to have Arrington join our March Board Meeting for our Mission Moment!

He shared reflections on his transition to college, including the surprises and successes of his first semester, how he is balancing academics and social life, and how the support he's received from ASF has impacted his journey. He highlighted regular check-ins with his mentor and our Professional Development Workshop as particularly supportive.

We also celebrated his success in being accepted into the MLT Ascend Program, an 18-month personal and professional development program for first-generation college students that provides one-on-one coaching, networking opportunities, and career exploration support!
