The impact of Dare2Dream is measurable – and unforgettable.
In 2024 alone:
14 participants logged over 2,863 training hours across circus, technical, teaching, and self-development modules
93% attendance rate – proof of their ambition and dedication
100% of students showed physical improvement
100% of students showed artistic improvement
91% grew in discipline and self-discipline
5 students were invited to tour professionally with Zip Zap's troupe to Mauritius, the USA, and France. 6 students performed for external judges from leading dance companies and the Department of Cultural Affairs .
One student was introduced to Zip Zap by a social worker after facing social and academic challenges, Zalton joined Dare2Dream in 2022. He has transformed from a quiet loner into a confident, well-liked team player. He now performs in hand-to-hand, club juggling, and acrobatics – and was named 2023 Student of the Year .
This is what your support makes possible.

Why does Dare2Dream exist?
Because in South Africa, youth unemployment exceeds 50% in many poverty-stricken communities . Marginalized young adults with incomplete educations face very limited job prospects. They struggle with daily challenges – unemployment, family problems, social isolation, and harsh judgment – that can lead to poor decision-making and depression .
Dare2Dream offers an alternative pathway to employment for young adults who do not wish to pursue or cannot access mainstream tertiary education.
But here's what makes the program unique: it doesn't just train performers. It creates teachers, technicians, and leaders who can sustain and expand Zip Zap's mission. Graduates leave with four years of practical work experience, professional skills, and the confidence to build independent lives .
This is workforce development through the transformative power of circus.

This month, we're featuring Dare2Dream – Zip Zap's full-time vocational training program for young adults aged 18 and older in Cape Town, South Africa.
Dare2Dream is not a casual class. It is a four-year commitment that uses circus arts as a practical medium to teach far more than flips and juggling. Participants learn:
Circus techniques and artistic development
Teaching skills (they coach younger children as part of the curriculum)
Technical production skills
Soft skills and self-development
The final year is a "professional insertion" year – a bridge between learning and working that prepares students to be both work-ready and life-ready .
All of this is offered free of charge to participants, thanks to donors like you. The goal? To alleviate poverty and reduce unemployment by creating alternative career pathways for young adults who may not wish to pursue traditional tertiary education .
Stay tuned this week as we share more about how Dare2Dream transforms lives. 🎪✨

Every REACH workshop requires resources: trained coaches, equipment, transportation to schools and community centers, and the dedicated staff who make it all happen.
All of this is offered free of charge to every participant.
That's where you come in.
Zip Zap Circus USA exists to support these life-changing programs through awareness and fundraising. When you donate to Zip Zap USA, your tax-deductible gift goes directly toward sustaining community outreach programs like REACH.
Your support means:
A child in an underserved Cape Town school experiences circus for the first time
A coach is paid to lead workshops that build confidence and teamwork
Transportation costs are covered so REACH can reach more communities
A young person gets a second chance to dream
Help us reach further. Donate to Zip Zap Circus USA today.

The impact of REACH can't always be measured in numbers – though the numbers are impressive. In 2024 alone, REACH engaged 1,629 participants through 35 workshops across Cape Town.
But the real impact is found in moments.
It's the shy child who speaks up for the first time. The teenager who discovers a talent they never knew they had. The young person who realizes, "Maybe I can do this. Maybe I can be something."
For many participants, REACH is exactly what its former name promised: a second chance. A second chance to see themselves differently. A second chance to dream.
And for some, that one workshop becomes the first step on a longer journey – into Zip Zap's youth programs, the Zappers, Dare2Dream, and even the professional MOYA troupe.
It all starts with reaching out.

So what actually happens in a REACH workshop?
Imagine a room full of young people, laughing and moving together. A coach demonstrates a juggling pattern. Another leads a balancing exercise. Groups form small circles to practice passing scarves or rolling diabolos.
But beneath the fun, something deeper is happening.
Every activity is designed to teach specific life skills:
Teamwork – Because you can't get through life alone.
Discipline – Mastery requires practice and focus.
Trust – Catching someone builds bonds.
Resilience – Dropping the ball means picking it up and trying again.
REACH is a once-off intervention for many participants. But in just one workshop, children experience the power of learning through play – and carry those lessons with them long after the day is over.

Why does a program like REACH matter?
In many underserved communities across Cape Town, access to extracurricular activities – let alone something as specialized as circus arts – is extremely limited. Children may face poverty, gang violence, unstable home environments, or schools with few resources for enrichment programs.
REACH was created to bridge this gap.
Working in partnership with the Western Cape Education Department, REACH identifies primary schools, high schools, NGOs, and children's homes in the most underserved areas and brings workshops directly to them.
Zip Zap doesn’t wait for children to find them. They go directly to them.
Through these workshops, young people who might never have imagined stepping into a circus ring, discover new skills, new friends, and new possibilities. The circus becomes a doorway to confidence, focus, and hope.

This month, we're shining a light on REACH – one of Zip Zap's vital community outreach programs in South Africa.
REACH does exactly what its name suggests: it reaches out to children in underserved areas across Cape Town, bringing the magic of circus directly to them.
Through hands-on workshops filled with games, circus techniques, and creative activities, REACH introduces young people to the transformative power of circus arts – often for the very first time.
The goal? To teach teamwork, instill discipline, and spark joy – all in a safe, fun, and exciting environment. For many of these children, REACH is their first glimpse of what's possible when they dare to dream. 🎪✨
Stay tuned this month as we explore how REACH is changing lives, one workshop at a time.

Every child deserves the chance to walk into their first day of school feeling capable, curious, and confident.
Khula Nathi makes that possible for many young children in Cape Town each year. But this program—with its trained facilitators, specialized equipment, and consistent curriculum—requires funding to reach the ECD centers and children who need it most.
This is where you come in.
As a Zip Zap Circus USA supporter, your tax-deductible donation directly fuels this critical early intervention work. You are not just funding circus classes. You are:🧒 Giving a child the motor skills to hold a pencil.🤝 Teaching a child how to listen, share, and cooperate.📖 Building a child's confidence to raise their hand and participate.🌍 Creating a foundation for educational success that lasts a lifetime.
Help us help them grow. Donate to Khula Nathi today.

The impact of Khula Nathi is written in the smiles of children who walk into primary school ready and eager to learn.
Teachers at partner ECD centres report remarkable transformations. Children who were shy or withdrawn begin to speak up, participate, and lead. Those who struggled with coordination gain control over their bodies. And all of them develop a crucial ingredient for academic success: confidence.
When a child learns they can master a new skill—balancing a peacock feather, catching a scarf, working with a friend—they carry that belief into the classroom. "I can do this" becomes their inner voice.
Khula Nathi plants the seeds of lifelong learning, one giggle, one trick, one small triumph at a time.

Why does a circus program matter for school readiness?
In many underserved communities in South Africa, children arrive at primary school without the foundational skills they need to succeed. They may never have held a pencil, followed instructions in a group, or practiced sitting still and focusing.
Khula Nathi bridges that gap before they reach the classroom.
Our trained facilitators work with ECD centers to deliver a structured program that feels like play but builds serious skills. When a child balances a feather on their nose, they're also building core strength for sitting at a desk. When they pass a ball in a circle, they're learning turn-taking and cooperation. When they remember a sequence of moves, they're strengthening memory and focus.
This isn't just circus. It's early intervention through joy.
