📰The Farm Credit Administration board received FCA’s 2023 Annual Report on the Farm Credit System’s Young, Beginning, and Small (YBS) Farmer Mission Performance at it's August 8th board meeting.
FCA strongly supports the System’s mission to serve YBS farmers, ranchers, and producers and harvesters of aquatic products. Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) introduced the Promoting Healthier Lifelong Improvements in Food and Exercise Act (LIFE Act). The bill would provide $75 million in pilot funding to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to conduct national education campaigns about how to recognize and address overweight and obesity, train health professionals to recognize the early signs of overweight and obesity, educate patients about proper nutrition and exercise, and develop intervention strategies in the workplace and community settings.

The FDA final rule, Nutrient Content Claims, Definition of Term: Healthy, is currently at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review. The final rule would update the definition for the implied nutrient content claim "healthy" to be consistent with current nutrition science and federal dietary guidance, revising requirements for when the claim can be voluntarily used on food labels to indicate that a food's level of nutrients may help consumers maintain healthy dietary practices.
