PAVE (Parents Amplifying Voices in Education) was founded in April 2016 with an all-parent governing board in order to connect, inform, and empower parent leaders to give families in DC a voice and a choice in the vision for education in our city. PAVE envisions an education system in DC where parents are partners and leaders in developing a diversity of safe, nurturing, and great schools for every child in every ward and community.

Last night, PAVE Parent Leaders, policymakers, system leaders, community members, and school leaders joined together at the annual DC Students Succeed celebration! Our coalition honored Councilmember Zachary Parker, CM Janeese Lewis George, and Chairman Phil Mendelson , and the leaders who helped this year. And we celebrated the policy wins in equitable funding, literacy, math, OST, high-impact tutoring, and whole child supports that will benefit all of DC’s kids.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us, and to all of our honorees for the work you did this year in education!

Huge shout-out to all of our co-hosts who made this event possible: Center for Strong Public Schools, DC CitySchools Collaborative CityWorks DC DC Charter School Alliance The D.C. Policy Center Education Forward DC EmpowerK12 Federal City Council

Celebrating 10 Years of PAVE!

As we reflect on a decade of PAVE, we keep coming back to the same truth: none of this would have been possible without the dedication, support, and guidance of the people who believed in our mission from the start. Over the next 10 weeks, we will be featuring 10 of PAVE’s earliest supporters, parents, funders, and school leaders who’ve helped transform PAVE into the Parent Powerhouse that it is today.

DC is our nation’s capitol and at America’s 250th anniversary, let’s celebrate those who live, love, and work in the District and make our country stronger.

Today, DC is home to almost 700k residents. From the Wilson Building to the White House, the Big Chair to the Capitol, and Fort Dupont to Rock Creek, DC’s people are a reflection of the vibrant tapestry of our union.

Let’s reflect on the words of two prominent Washingtonians who helped shape these United States and fought tirelessly for the democratic rights of the people of the District: Frederick Douglas and Eleanor Holmes Norton.
