The Washington Center for Yemeni Studies (WCYS) is a research center and dedicated platform for open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and civic engagement. Through our varied initiatives, we aim to facilitate a more inclusive future for Yemenis everywhere; WCYS amplifies Yemeni voices, fosters understanding of Yemen, and bridges the gap between communities and decision-makers. ترامب: الحوثيون يستهدفون #السعودية بإيعاز من #إيران

قال الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب إن الحوثيين عادوا إلى استهداف السعودية بعد فترة من الصمت، مرجحاً أن يكون تحركهم بإيعاز من إيران، وسعياً لرفع أسعار النفط قبيل الانتخابات الأميركية.

وأضاف أنه سيكون حاضراً بعد الانتخابات، قائلاً إنه لن ينسى ذلك، كما وصف إيران بأنها دولة فاشلة، مشيراً إلى أن معدل التضخم فيها يبلغ 301% وأنها لا تملك قوات بحرية أو جوية.

U.S. President Donald Trump said the Houthis had resumed targeting Saudi Arabia after a period of silence, suggesting that their actions were likely at ’s behest and aimed at driving up oil prices ahead of the U.S. elections.

He added that he would be there after the elections and would not forget it. He also described Iran as a failing nation, saying its inflation rate stood at 301% and that it had no navy or air force.

الزبيدي يعلن التعبئة الشعبية في الجنوب لمواجهة الحوثيين

في أول ظهور له بالصوت والصورة منذ أحداث #حضرموت مطلع العام الجاري، أعلن عيدروس الزبيدي، رئيس المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي المنحل والمقيم في الإمارات، التعبئة الشعبية العامة في مناطق الجنوب، داعياً إلى الانخراط في مراكز التعبئة والاحتشاد في #عدن وعدد من المحافظات، ومساندة القوات الجنوبية في مواجهة جماعة الحوثي.

وأكد الزبيدي، الذي يقود كياناً يطالب بانفصال جنوب #اليمن، مواصلة المسار السياسي للمطالبة بحق تقرير المصير واستعادة دولة مستقلة، داعياً السعودية والمجتمعين الإقليمي والدولي إلى الاعتراف بالإعلان الدستوري والبيان السياسي الصادرين في 2 يناير 2026.

Al-Zubaidi Announces Popular Mobilization in the South to Confront the Houthis

In his first audio-visual appearance since the events in earlier this year, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, head of the dissolved Southern Transitional Council and currently based in the UAE, announced a general popular mobilization across the south. He called on people to join mobilization centers and attend rallies in and several governorates, and to support the southern forces in confronting the Houthi group.

Al-Zubaidi, who leads an entity calling for the secession of southern , said he would continue the political track to demand the right to self-determination and the restoration of an independent state. He called on Saudi Arabia and the regional and international communities to recognize the Constitutional Declaration and Political Statement issued on January 2, 2026.

الحكومة اليمنية توافق على مشروع قانون لتصنيف الحوثيين منظمة إرهابية وتجريم أنشطتهم

وافق مجلس الوزراء اليمني على مشروع قانون لتصنيف جماعة الحوثي "منظمة إرهابية" وتجريم أنشطتها وتمويلها، بناءً على عرض قدّمته وزيرة الشؤون القانونية، ووجّه باستكمال الإجراءات الدستورية والقانونية اللازمة للمصادقة عليه، وفق وكالة "سبأ" الحكومية.

ويأتي المشروع في سياق خطوات حكومية بدأت بقرار مجلس الدفاع الوطني في أكتوبر 2022 بشأن تصنيف الجماعة "منظمة إرهابية"، أعقبته حزمة إجراءات تنفيذية في المسارين القانوني والاقتصادي.

وفي يناير 2024، شكّلت الحكومة لجنة فنية للتعامل مع تداعيات إعادة التصنيف، قبل أن يناقش مجلس الوزراء في يوليو 2025 مقترحات لمتابعة تنفيذ العقوبات الدولية المرتبطة به، ويدعو المجتمع الدولي إلى الانضمام إلى قرار تصنيف الحوثيين "منظمة إرهابية أجنبية".

Yemeni government approves draft law to designate Houthis as a terrorist organization and criminalize their activities

The Yemeni Cabinet approved a draft law to designate the Houthi group as a "terrorist organization" and criminalize its activities and financing. The draft was presented by the Minister of Legal Affairs. The Cabinet directed that the constitutional and legal procedures required for its ratification be completed, according to the state-run Saba news agency.

The draft comes amid government measures that began with the National Defense Council’s decision in October 2022 to designate the group as a "terrorist organization," followed by a package of executive measures on the legal and economic tracks.

In January 2024, the government formed a technical committee to address the implications of the redesignation. In July 2025, the Cabinet discussed proposals to follow up on the implementation of international sanctions related to it and called on the international community to join the decision to designate the Houthis as a "Foreign Terrorist Organization."

أعلنت الهيئة العامة للطيران المدني #السعودية مقتل 12 شخصاً وإصابة 309 آخرين جراء الهجوم الحوثي على مطار الملك خالد الدولي بـ #الرياض، بينهم أربعة مواطنين سعوديين وثمانية مقيمين من جنسيات مختلفة.

ووصف تحالف دعم الشرعية الهجوم بأنه "عمل إرهابي" و"جريمة حرب"، متوعداً بالرد عليه بحزم.

Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in the Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in .

The dead included four Saudi citizens and eight residents of various nationalities. The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen described the attack as a "terrorist act" and a "war crime," and vowed to respond firmly.

جماعة الحوثي المدعومة من #إيران تستهدف مطار #عدن الدولي، فجر اليوم، بصاروخين باليستيين وعدد من الطائرات المسيّرة المفخخة، وفقاً لوزارة النقل، ما عرّض حياة المسافرين والعاملين وأطقم الطيران للخطر.

وقالت الوزارة إن أحد الصاروخين سقط قرب المدرج قبل دقائق من هبوط رحلة للخطوط الجوية اليمنية قادمة من #القاهرة، ما أدى إلى تحويل مسارها إلى #جدة وإخلاء المطار والطائرات الموجودة فيه.

The -backed Houthi group targeted International Airport early today with two ballistic missiles and several booby-trapped drones, according to the Ministry of Transport, putting the lives of passengers, airport workers and flight crews at risk.

The ministry said one of the missiles landed near the runway minutes before a Yemenia flight from was due to land, prompting the flight to be diverted to and the airport and aircraft on the ground to be evacuated.

الصحة العالمية: 959 قتيلاً وأكثر من 4,200 جريح منذ بدء التصعيد في #اليمن

قالت منظمة الصحة العالمية إن #تعز أصبحت الجبهة الأكثر حدة في اليمن، مع ارتفاع عدد الضحايا اليومي فيها من 8 إلى 109 خلال أسبوع، بالتزامن مع اتساع رقعة المواجهات إلى محافظات أخرى.

وأفادت المنظمة بارتفاع إجمالي ضحايا التصعيد منذ 6 أغسطس إلى 5,166 شخصاً، بينهم 959 قتيلاً، منهم 685 ضحية خلال ستة أيام فقط، فيما بلغ عدد النازحين نحو 198 ألف شخص في عشر محافظات.

وحذرت من تدهور الوضع الصحي مع تسجيل 7,871 حالة كوليرا مشتبه بها و27 وفاة خلال العام الجاري، وأكثر من 22 ألف حالة حصبة مشتبه بها و128 وفاة، وسط نقص في خدمات إسعاف المصابين والإمدادات العلاجية وتعطل برامج التحصين.

WHO: 959 Killed and More Than 4,200 Injured Since the Escalation Began in

The World Health Organization (WHO) said has become the most intense front in Yemen, with the daily number of casualties rising from 8 to 109 within a week, as fighting expands to other governorates.

According to WHO, the total number of casualties since August 6 has risen to 5,166, including 959 deaths, with 685 casualties recorded in just six days. Meanwhile, nearly 198,000 people have been displaced across ten governorates.

WHO also warned of a deteriorating health situation, with 7,871 suspected cholera cases and 27 deaths reported this year, along with more than 22,000 suspected measles cases and 128 deaths, amid shortages in emergency care for the wounded and medical supplies, as well as disruptions to routine immunization programs.
