Co-Artistic Directors: Theodore Thorpe, III & Scott Tucker Founded as a collaborative effort by DC luminaries, Scott Tucker and Nolan Williams, Jr, the Washington Douglass Chorale was formed through a shared vision to create a mixed chorus emphasizing extreme diversity and embracing the full spectrum of choral works. The chorus, an 80-voice ensemble, is made up of volunteer and professional singer

s that authentically reflect the racial diversity and ethnicity of the Washington, DC region, and will collaborate with major symphonies and participate in premiere events both in Washington, DC and beyond.

This Monday, May 1, OLLI is honored to host Scott Tucker and Theodore Thorpe III for a deep dive into the sacred vocal traditions that have shaped our musical landscape.

From the grand masterworks of the Western Classical canon to the dynamic and resilient spirit of African-American traditions, this lecture offers a rare glimpse into the artistry and history of sacred song.

- Scott Tucker: Renowned choral conductor and former Artistic Director of the Choral Arts Society of Washington.
- Theodore Thorpe III: A Yamaha “40 Under 40” educator and a powerhouse conductor, vocalist, and composer in the DC community.
