It is incredibly bittersweet that we announce our leader, Dr Michael Stevens is transitioning out of his role as Vice President and Executive Director for CYDC. Please feel free to comment/share words of appreciation if you have had the chance to work or serve alongside Dr. Stevens during his City Year journey. Dr. Mike, thank you for your years of service to our Nation’s Capitol.

Here are some thoughts & reflections from our fearless leader:

These past 18 years with City Year have been nothing short of life-changing for me. When I first joined as an AmeriCorps Member serving in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 2006, I’d never dreamt it was the start of a career in service to young people.

My service with City Year has taken me around the country in service to young people and has allowed me the chance to achieve milestones I never imagined. Whether it was founding new sites, developing new district partnerships, leading innovative pilots, or coaching & developing high caliber leaders - I couldn’t ask for a more meaningful experience.

I’m deeply appreciative and thankful for all of the partners, champions, teammates, and supporters who’ve been with me throughout this journey. I’m proud, honored, and blessed for our shared time together and I’m looking forward to continuing to support City Year now as their biggest alumni cheerleader.
