Barry is a Houston raised songwriter, producer, and music industry entrepreneur who has spent decades on both sides of the glass. After cutting his teeth as a performing artist and jingle writer, he moved to Los Angeles and built a career placing over 200 of his own songs in film and television, including work tied to The Heights, California Dreams, and the number one hit How Do You Talk to an Angel. Today Barry runs Music Supervisor Inc., a licensing company that represents tens of thousands of labels and artists for film, TV, and advertising. He is also the founder of the Springboard Festivals, artist focused conferences and showcases (Springboard South, West, and beyond) that give independent musicians real mentorship, industry access, and a legitimate shot at the next level through Band Bootcamp and live performances. In this episode, Barry talks about building sustainable careers for artists, the difference between hype and real opportunity, and why platforms like Springboard still matter in a streaming dominated world.
