The Sola Village .
We’ve spent the last few months since the fall focusing on providing sustainable aid to the people who remain in Afghanistan - going beyond traditional philanthropy. The Sola Village is a haven that provides emergency shelter solutions to internally displaced people who have been displaced from rural Afghanistan to urban city centers. Existing makeshift IDP camps are unmanaged, and pose significant health and security risks to both the IDP’s inhabiting them and the larger communities where they are located.
Together with Read To Lead Afghanistan and our partners, we’ve created a sustainable eco-system that provides meaningful solutions to the historical problems faced by Afghan IDPs. Our vision for the Sola Village is to address both the immediate, survival-contingent needs of the IDPs and other inapparent needs that have historically gone unaddressed.
