Roots of Development is a US-based nonprofit organization. Roots was founded in 2007. They manage and decide their own future.

We partner with local organizations and advocate for changes in the international aid system to create sustainable, long-lasting results in the fight against poverty. The communities we work with choose, build, and maintain their own projects.

On May 1st, Haitian Agriculture and Labor Day, Rasin Devlopman came together with students, principals, community leaders, local authorities, and representatives of organizations like World Vision and other CBOs for a day centered around reforestation and protecting the environment.

Location: Island of La Gonave, Haiti
Project: As part of their work to strengthen civil society on the island, Rasin supports projects undertaken by other community-based groups and associations on La Gonave. In 2025, Rasin supported a youth engineering competition, the construction of a community clinic, a public square, and a fish market, the planting of fruit trees, training and support for crop preservation, and more.

On Monday, April 20th, Roots of Development and the Embassy of Haiti in London co-hosted a reception in London, just before the Skoll World Forum begun in Oxford. Attendees included prominent members of the international aid, community-led development, and Haitian communities. They heard from Ambassador Anaise Manuel, Haiti's Ambassador the UK; Marie-Rose Romain Murphy, President of Haiti Community Foundation-ESPWA; Louino Robillard, Co-Founder of Gwoup Konbit; Chad Bissonnette, President & Co-Founder of Roots of Development; and Federico Motka, Head of Emergencies and Humanitarian Portfolio at the Vitol Foundation on the local aid ecosystem that Roots, Gwoup Konbit, ESPWA, and our networks are working to build throughout Haiti. Thank you so much to the Embassy for their support for and partnership on this event!

As part of the National Health Week, Konbit San Pou San (KSPS) participated in the health fair organized by the Department of Public Health and Population held at the El Rancho Convention Center.

On this occasion, KSPS hosted an interactive booth aimed at raising awareness through an educational and participatory approach. Visitors took part in an activity based on a quiz game, promoting learning and knowledge sharing.

The topics covered included:
• blood transfusion
• prevention of sexually transmitted infections
• first aid measures
• the promotion of health

Partner: Konbit San Pou San with Gwoup Konbit
Location: Petion Ville, Haiti
Project: Konbit San Pou San (KSPS) is one of the founding members of Roots' partner, Gwoup Konbit. KSPS aims to: 1) Sensitize the Haitian population on the need for regular blood donations, 2) Organize blood drives for the benefit of the Haitian population, 3) Work in collaboration with institutions working in the field of advocacy, and 4) Raise awareness of blood donation.
