“Disability is not a barrier, Discrimination is”

It was a pleasure gracing the campaign to eradicate period poverty not only with all the beautiful ladies in Gulu district but most importantly go as far as including the Gulu Women with Disabilities Union as beneficiaries of the program. Indeed period poverty doesn’t discriminate, The deaf and dumb also suffer the same problem just like any other ladies without disabilities.

Special thanks to Nyero Joe P'Akech , Akuaku Sam Ivan Alonso and Nyero Foundation for reaching out with the inclusive support to the incredible ladies and making it a successful memorable day. May the good Lord bless y’all.
Looking forward to impacting more and more communities together.❤️

It was a pleasure, thank you for having us❤️🙏

Check out this PSA from who inspires us. We know that most people are relatively knew to "period poverty" so let's start with the basics: menstruation. There are many assumptions and expectations around who menstruates. While our focus is primary school students and secondary school female students in Uganda, we want to make this billboard announcement clear. Menstruating does not make a person more or less of woman. Our bodies are far too complicated and spectacular for that. People besides cis women who might menstruate include trans people, intersex people, and non-binary people.

Therefore we use language like:
✅ "people who menstruate"
✅ "people with periods"
✅ "menstrual products"
✅ "menstruators"

Therefore we aviod language like:
❎ "feminine hygeine"
❎ "women's issues"
❎ "girls' problems"

What are some false assumptions or expectations you had about menstruation?
