Pride Month is a time to celebrate visibility, community, love, and the freedom to show up fully as ourselves.

The Equality Chamber of Commerce DC is proud to host our annual Pride Kick Off Event on June 18, 2026 from 6 PM to 9 PM at The Darcy in Washington, D.C.

This evening brings together LGBTQ+ business owners, professionals, allies, corporate partners, community leaders, and friends for a night rooted in connection, creativity, and acceptance. Pride is more than a month on the calendar. It is a reminder that our community grows stronger when we create spaces where people feel seen, valued, welcomed, and supported.

This event is open to members and non members. Whether you are already part of the Chamber, curious about getting involved, looking to meet new people, or simply want to celebrate Pride with a powerful community, we encourage you to attend.

We are also seeking sponsors who want to stand with the LGBTQ+ business community and help make this celebration possible. Sponsorship is a meaningful way to show support, build visibility, and invest in a stronger, more connected regional business community. Please message us if you would like more information on being a sponsor.

Join us as we celebrate Pride, community, love, and acceptance together. Come see what community looks like. We are your chamber.

This month, the Equality Chamber of DC recognizes the LGBTQ+ service members and veterans whose courage and leadership have helped shape our country and our community.

For generations, LGBTQ+ people wore the uniform with pride, discipline, and dedication. Many served while hiding part of who they were, giving their best to a country that did not always give them the dignity of being fully known.

That sacrifice reached beyond the individual. Partners, spouses, families, and chosen families carried that silence too, often from the margins.

Today, LGBTQ+ veterans continue to serve through business ownership, advocacy, mentorship, leadership, and community building across the DMV.

We are grateful for your service, your resilience, and the doors you helped open for those who came after you.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. For LGBTQ+ communities, mental health is not a side conversation. It is connected to safety, belonging, visibility, discrimination, and the spaces where people can show up fully as themselves.

That is why community matters. Being in a room where you do not have to explain, defend, or edit who you are can bring real relief. It reminds people they are not carrying everything alone.

The Equality Chamber exists to help create that kind of space. A place where business growth, connection, visibility, and wellbeing can all be part of the same conversation.

You are seen here. You are valued here. You belong here on the good days and the hard ones.

May is Small Business Month, and it is a meaningful reminder of how much small businesses do for our communities every day.

Small businesses create jobs, strengthen neighborhoods, build local wealth, and keep our region connected. They are where ideas grow, where leadership develops, and where opportunity often begins.

For the Equality Chamber of Commerce DC, supporting LGBTQ+ small businesses is central to our mission. Our members include entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives, service providers, nonprofit leaders, and community builders who help move the DMV forward.

Small businesses need more than recognition. They need visibility, referrals, partnerships, investment, and year round support. That is the work we are committed to building through connection, advocacy, and shared opportunity.

We are proud to support the small businesses that build, serve, lead, and strengthen our community. Come be a part of our community and see what your chamber can do for you.

On Memorial Day, we honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage protected freedoms many of us move through every day. Their sacrifice left a legacy carried by families, fellow service members, and communities that will never forget them. This day calls us to remember the lives behind the uniform, the futures they never got to live, and the debt we can never fully repay.

With respect, gratitude, and solemn remembrance, we honor the fallen this Memorial Day.

Today, on Harvey Milk Day, we remember a leader who understood that LGBTQ visibility could change lives, laws, institutions, and futures.

Harvey Milk’s activism was rooted in a simple but powerful truth. When people are forced into silence, communities lose their talent, leadership, creativity, and full human potential. When people are able to live openly, society becomes stronger because it benefits from everything they bring.

That is not only a social truth. It is an economic one.

Inclusive communities are stronger communities. Inclusive workplaces retain more talent. Inclusive business networks create more opportunity. Inclusive leadership expands who gets seen as capable, credible, and worthy of investment.

For the Equality Chamber of Commerce DC, Harvey Milk’s legacy connects directly to the work of building economic opportunity for LGBTQ people and allies. Our community is filled with business owners, professionals, nonprofit leaders, corporate partners, and advocates who understand that equality must be visible in policy, practice, procurement, and leadership.

Harvey Milk reminded us that hope has power. The power to organize. The power to build community. The power to change policy. The power to create a future where LGBTQ people are not just included, but recognized as leaders, builders, innovators, and decision makers.

Today, we honor his legacy by continuing the work in the places where change takes root: in our businesses, our workplaces, our networks, our partnerships, and our community.

That work is still ours to carry forward.

The strength of the Equality Chamber of Commerce DC has always been our members.

Every business owner, professional, corporate partner, ally, and advocate brings something meaningful to this community. Your experiences help show what we are building together across the DMV.

We are launching a member story series to highlight how the Chamber has supported your career, your business, your connections, or your sense of belonging in a professional space where you can show up fully and authentically.

Maybe the Chamber helped you meet a new partner. Maybe it opened the door to a business opportunity. Maybe it gave you a room where you felt seen, supported, and connected.

We want to hear from you.

If you are interested in sharing your story, send us a direct message for more details.

Together, our stories show the power of our community in action.
