Severe flooding across Bihar has displaced families and damaged homes, farms, livestock and livelihoods. Floodwaters also bring heightened risks of contaminated drinking water, illness, food insecurity and interrupted schooling.
The burden of such disasters falls especially heavily on people with the fewest resources, including agricultural workers, Dalit and other marginalized communities, older people, children and people with disabilities. Immediate relief must be followed by sustained support as communities begin the difficult work of rebuilding.
We stand with everyone affected and with the local responders working to deliver food, clean water, medical care, hygiene supplies and temporary shelter.
