It's very likely that this was de Looper's first composition using collage. Experimenting with color and structure, he uses overlapping forms in a planar dialog. Organic shapes float and weave in a challenge to the bold, advancing red field. It's dated 1962.

The foundation is delighted to partner with the Art Connection in the Capital Region to facilitate the permanent placement of 20 de Looper paintings in participating nonprofit spaces throughout the Washington area. The ACCR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding public access to original art in underserved communities.

We are grateful that the Woman’s National Democratic Club has generously offered to host this special exhibition and community art donation event.

The Foundation is thrilled to announce that in US Chamber of Commerce has acquired a stunning painting by de Looper for their Washington, DC location. Untitled, 1974 combines luminous color and subtle textural detail in overlapping layers of acrylic paint. Like other works from this period, the painting is composed of fluid, horizontal bands that suggest depth without breaching the flatness of the surface. It measures 74 x 95 inches.
