【🕯️同悲不捨 大華府地區 大埔火災悼念晚會】

感謝所有冒住寒風出席悼念晚會嘅大家，喺海外嘅我哋與香港人同悲同悼。祈願逝者安息、生者平安嘅同時，我哋喺華府呼應香港人嘅四大訴求：

一、持續支援受災居民，確保妥善安置
二、成立獨立調查委員會，全面徹查潛在利益輸送
三、重新審視工程監管制度，拒絕祭旗了事
四、全力追究監管疏忽，問責政府官員

我哋會謹記呢一刻嘅悲傷、憤怒、無力，將佢哋轉化為追尋真相嘅勇氣與堅持。

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to attend the memorial evening. From abroad, we share in the grief and mourning of the people of Hong Kong.

While praying for the repose of the deceased and the safety of the living, we in Washington, D.C. echo the four major demands of the Hong Kong people:

1. Continue supporting affected residents and ensure proper relocation
2. Establish an independent commission of inquiry to thoroughly investigate potential collusion and profiteering
3. Re-examine the construction oversight system; refuse scapegoating
4. Thoroughly pursue regulatory negligence and hold government officials accountable

We will remember the sadness, anger, and helplessness of this moment, transforming them into courage and persistence in the pursuit of truth.

May all lives perished rest in peace🕊️

[DMV Tai Po Fire Memorial Vigil]

DC4HK將於華盛頓舉辦悼念晚會，追悼大埔宏福苑火災嘅所有罹難者、祈願所有受影響嘅居民平安、並要求追究所有涉事官商對是次人禍嘅責任。

DC4HK will host a memorial vigil to commemorate the lives lost in the tragic Tai Po Wang F*k Court fires, to pray for the safety and well-being of all others affected, and seek accountability.

DC4HK參與華府台灣同鄉會 Taiwanese Association of America Greater Washington Chapter 主辦嘅「Taiwan Yes! 臺灣夜市2024」所得盈利及捐款總共美金$550已全數捐予 細葉榕人道支援基金 ﹐支援在囚手足及家人。🙌🏼

DC4HK希望透過是次籌款略盡綿薄之力幫助 繼續支援在囚 #香港政治犯，亦鼓勵大家盡自己所能捐款並繼續關注支持在囚手足。

The June 16 protest had a lasting impact on Hongkongers. With an estimated two million participants, it was a historic show of unity, grief, and determination. What began as opposition to a bill grew into a broader fight for justice, freedom, and democracy. The peaceful and disciplined march challenged official narratives and drew local and international support.

For many, it marked a political awakening—deepening civic awareness and strengthening a movement that continues to resist, despite ongoing repression.

2019年6月16日的遊行對香港人留下深遠的影響。約有二百萬人上街，成為團結、悲痛和決心的歷史性場面。由反對《逃犯條例》開始，逐漸演變成爭取公義、自由與民主的廣泛抗爭。當日和平有序的遊行有力反駁了政府的抹黑說法，並獲得本地及國際的支持。

對許多香港人而言，這是一場政治覺醒——喚起公民意識，凝聚力量，即使在持續的打壓下，這場運動仍然堅持抗爭，為香港的未來而奮鬥。

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been linked to a global campaign of transnational repression (TNR), using threats, harassment, and disinformation to silence dissidents—even on U.S. soil. A Joint Report by Hong Kong Democracy Council and Students for A Free Tibet highlights how pro-CCP actors targeted Hongkongers, Uyghurs, Tibetans, and others during Xi Jinping’s 2023 visit to San Francisco. The FBI warns that these actions violate fundamental rights and urges anyone affected to speak out. Free speech is protected—no matter your background.

【Sixth Anniversary of June 12】

Six years ago, on June 12, 2019, tens of thousands of Hongkongers took to the streets to defend the home we cherish so deeply.

Six years later, we still remember how the government reacted to peaceful demonstrations with excessive police force, using tear gas, rubber bullets, and even bean bag rounds against unarmed Hongkongers.

We will never forget the police brutality and how our people responded with courage and fearless resistance.

Free Hong Kong.

六年前嘅今日，數以萬計嘅香港人為咗守護我哋珍愛嘅屋企走上街頭，要求政府撤回「送中惡法」。

面對手無寸鐵嘅和平示威者，港共政府派遣上千名警察，以過度嘅暴力以及催淚彈、橡膠子彈、散彈槍等不對等嘅武器攻擊群眾。

我地永遠都唔會忘記由六一二開始嘅警察暴力，更加唔會忘記香港人以勇氣回應打壓嘅精神。

Every year, VOC commemorates what happened on June 4, 1989, when the Chinese Communist Party crushed a massive pro-democracy movement by sending tanks into Tiananmen Square. Beijing has since erased all mention of June 4 from its history. We still do not know the death toll.

HKDC will be hosting a panel at SCSP’s AI+ Expo on Wednesday. The panel will discuss how Hong Kong serves as a conduit for China’s technological expansion, the city’s role in global finance and compliance, and the implications for cross-strait relations and tech supply chains. This discussion takes place on the 36th anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre — a solemn reminder of the costs of authoritarian repression.
