We are honored to welcome Corey Minor Smith - Attorney, Author and Advocate - back to The SonRise Project. The New York Times described her as "a fascinating woman who moved 21 times and attended 14 different schools before graduating high school, became a mother her senior year of college, and eventually went to law school and became a successful attorney." Her journey of resilience and purpose has made her one of the most compelling voices in mental health advocacy today.

A trained NAMI facilitator with a national profile, Corey has appeared on The Breakfast Club and in Forbes and Rolling Out magazines. Her memoir — called "searing and moving" by the New York Times — chronicles her personal experience loving someone with mental illness and her unwavering fight forward.

This week, Corey joins us in conversation around No One Cares About Crazy People, a powerful documentary confronting severe mental illness and the urgent push for treatment. Her story and her advocacy make her the perfect voice for this moment.

Come ready to be moved.

Dee Sapp, the Executive Director for The SonRise Project, is also a devoted mother, fierce disability advocate, and living proof that you can champion someone else's greatness without losing your own. For decades, Dee has been on the front lines of raising her son, a Paralympic athlete who recently competed and won in Barcelona, Spain, representing Team USA.

Her son, who is autistic and has an intellectual disability, did not get there by accident. He got there because of a mother who refused to accept limitations, fought for inclusion at every turn, and built a support system rooted in love, advocacy, and an unshakeable belief in her son's potential.

But Dee's story is not only her son's story. It is also the story of a woman who learned — sometimes the hard way — that caregivers need care too. In this conversation, Dee brings her whole self: the pride, the exhaustion, the growth, and the hard-won wisdom that comes from raising a remarkable human being while still becoming one herself.

This conversation is for:

✅Parents and caregivers of children with disabilities

✅Anyone who has ever put themselves last

✅People who love someone on the spectrum and don't know how to cope

✅Anyone who needs to hear that YOU matter too

This Sunday, April 12th, at 9:00 AM EST, Kelli welcomes Nicole Brown.

A mother's love is often described as unconditional, but when faced with the relentless tide of a child's challenges, that unconditionality is tested in ways few can comprehend.

It is a journey through a landscape of shadows, marked by the highest peaks and the deepest valleys of despair.

Join Nikki, as she opens her heart to The SonRise Project Sunday Support Call Community, sharing a raw and transformative personal journey of loving her child through the ups and downs of hyper vigilance, guilt, always on high alert and moving past the "fixer" mentality.
