The Upper Georgia Avenue Main Street is under new management with SB Works, a DC Based small business support non-profit.

We strive to represent and help support the development of the businesses, communities, and residents of the Upper Georgia area Upper Georgia Avenue Main Street is a program of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, along with The Parks Main Street program (serving the Riggs Park and Manor Park neighborhoods). We support existing and new small businesses along Georgia Avenue, NW, between Missouri a

nd Eastern Avenues through Technical Assistance, direct grants, promotional opportunities, and more. We also put on free community events to promote the Upper Georgia Avenue corridor. Funding for the program comes from the Department of Small and Local Business Development.

Join us for the 43rd National Night Out (NNO), a fun-filled, annual community opportunity to meet your DC neighbors and put a face to the local leaders keeping our homes safe.

Safety starts long before emergencies! NNO is about building those everyday connections between community member and first responders that make our neighborhoods stronger, more responsive, and more human.

The Ward 4 fun will be held at Hamilton Park (1340 Hamilton St NW). Come to meet your neighbors and stay for a summer evening filled with music, family-friendly fun, and more!

From application to award 💫

The Upper Georgia Avenue Small Business Challenge is all about turning local ideas into lasting impact. This grant cycled we had the honor of putting funding directly into the hands of the businesses shaping our corridor every day.

These moments matter. What started as an idea, a need, or a “what if” is now backed with real support to grow, expand, and thrive. Congratulations to all our applicants and winners and we can’t wait to see how your projects take form!

Community starts with connection and a thriving Main Street is built by investing in the people who call it home. 💛

This morning, Upper Georgia Avenue Main Street joined Ward 4 MPD and the Boys & Girls Club for a Shea butter-making workshop with local youth, creating space for creativity, learning, and meaningful engagement right here in the Georgia Avenue community.

A great Main Street is more than storefronts and streetscapes; it’s the people, partnerships, and opportunities that bring a corridor to life. By strengthening relationships across the community, we continue building a safer, more vibrant, and more connected Upper Georgia Avenue. ✨

Our Main Street team had an absolute blast this weekend at Fort Stevens Day! We’d like to extend a special thank you to all the vendors who came out and tabled and all the really special folks at the National Park Service for putting on such a fantastic event.

Nothing like a little morning beautification to get the corridor ready for Fort Stevens Day!

This morning the Upper Georgia Main Street joined a few volunteers and reps from the National Park Service for a clean up day in preparation for Fort Stevens Day.

Continue America’s 250th anniversary by joining us this Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM at Fort Stevens Park for free family fun, interactive historical learning activities and more!

Happy Fourth of July, Upper Georgia friends and neighbors!

As we celebrate Independence Day, we’re also approaching the 162nd anniversary of the Battle of Fort Stevens (July 11–12, 1864)– the only one U.S. history where a sitting president, Abraham Lincoln, came under enemy fire. The Battle of Fort Stevens played a pivotal role in defending Washington, D.C. against the Confederacy.

You can learn more by joining us next Saturday, July 11 (10AM-2PM) at Fort Stevens Day! Explore the rich history that lies right here on our corridor and experience the story of July 1864 through living history demonstrations, music, storytelling, historical interpreters, hands-on activities, and interactive exhibits.
