AIA DC Technology Committee The mission of the AIA|DC Technology Committee is to expand the knowledge base of the AEC industry with respect to the use of technology.

About
The mission of the AIA|DC Technology Committee is to expand the knowledge base of the AEC industry with respect to the use of technology. We believe that great architecture and communities arise from an institutional understanding of how the built environment affects both the individual and the collective, and we assert that technology has an important role to play in that understanding. We

believe that great spaces result from a collaborative consideration of environment, constructability and affect, and we assert that technology is vital toward that consideration. As technology continues to evolve, the AIA|DCTC will become an agent of transformation for the building industry, encouraging architects, engineers, contractors, and owners to design, build, and occupy better cities. Goals
Through a carefully curated series of events, the DCTC aims to:

create a local clearinghouse of internationally recognized knowledge and expertise in technology across a range of design technologies. create a forum for the discussion of ideas and best practices
foster better communication between disciplines in the AEC industry
help architects and related AEC professionals in Washington use new technologies to design, build, & occupy better buildings faster with less risk and greater profits. identify and exploit advances in at-large technology that have not yet infiltrated the industry

Join us for an exciting and free webinar this Tuesday!

New reality capture tools and technologies are being introduced to the market at an exponential rate. When used appropriately, these tools and technologies can inform design in many meaningful ways. Expensive equipment, large file sizes, powerful enough computers, skillsets in different software and workflows, and the ability to use the data for meaningful deliverables to inform design are all adoption challenges.

This event is intended for those who want to know more about how reality capture is affecting the design and built process. From those at the beginning of their careers, to firm principals/executives, this event is meant to be a detailed exploration into how reality capture data can be analyzed in meaningful ways to inform design.

Presented by Brian Krause, Vice President, Coda
Brian leads the business, operations, and growth strategy for Coda, a technology company that delivers solutions to owners, developers, and designers to make smarter, more informed asset decisions.

With over two decades of industry experience, Brian has held successful leadership roles in project management, business management, and construction technology implementation nationally and internationally. He has led and supported Building Information Modeling (BIM) implementation through
preconstruction, construction, and facilities management since 2007.

Brian is passionate about technology, construction, and empowering others to implement the best tools to improve workflows. Brian has presented on and led VDC discussions at events throughout the United States and worldwide.

Through the use of technology, architectural and engineering designers can work together to iterate ideas quickly in 3D and test fit numerous alternatives. Is having so many options beneficial? Can designers find ways to hone in on best approaches quickly?
