Next week, House leadership is planning a vote on Representative Lauren Boebert’s bill to strip gray wolves of Endangered Species Act protections. This is an urgent, high-stakes moment for wolf recovery and for the Endangered Species Act itself.

We have already seen what happens when wolves are turned over to state management without strong safeguards. In parts of the Northern Rockies, wolves have faced extreme, unethical, and unsustainable killing, and in Idaho, bounties have even been offered for dead wolves. If Boebert’s bill passes, it would invite more of these actions across the country and permanently block national protections for gray wolves.

It could also reopen the door to devastating trophy hunts, like what happened in Wisconsin in 2020 after federal protections were removed. Wolves regained protections thanks to overwhelming public outcry and the courts. We cannot let Congress erase decades of progress with one vote.

We were disappointed to see the PERMIT Act pass the House last week, but the fight's not over. Congress is trying to ram through a vote on the SPEED Act right before the holidays, and we want them to know their constituents won't stand for it. Fight back against the dangerous SPEED Act today. https://earthjusticeaction.org/action/tell-congress-protect-our-core-environmental-laws-protect-our-health/?ms=eja_socialshare

THIS WEEK: The House will vote on the first of two bad bills that would eviscerate our bedrock environmental laws and put our clean air, clean water, and communities at risk. We need you to tell your representatives to vote no on the SPEED and PERMIT Acts. They will lock in fossil fuels development, harm communities, and threaten our water — they must be stopped.

Earlier this week, the House overturned Biden-era protections that safeguarded millions of acres of the Western Arctic and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil and gas drilling. We will not stand idly by as Congress sells off Alaska's Arctic to the highest bidder.

While federal workers missed paychecks, SNAP recipients went without food aid, and other critical government functions ground to a halt, House Republicans gave themselves an extended, seven-week vacation during the government shutdown.

Meanwhile, their friends in the Trump administration and U.S. Senate have been hard at work undermining protections for our public lands and threatening our planet.

Rising asthma rates, soaring energy costs, and worsening air quality. These are just some of the ways Trump's so-called "energy emergency" is making life harder for local communities by forcing outdated coal plants to stay open.

We think Coloradans deserve the right to decide how we power our homes, protect our kids from dirty air, and avoid surging energy bills.

Congressional Republicans are playing politics with the lives and livelihoods of everyday Americans. They must negotiate with Democrats to pass robust, bipartisan funding legislation and end this shutdown.

Everyday Americans are struggling to make ends meet during the Republican-caused government shutdown. However, the Trump administration continues to prioritize handouts for polluting industries, all to meet a sham "energy emergency."

Federal workers who issue permits for oil, gas and mining operations are on the job, along with those working to repeal pollution limits.

10/30/2025

The Republican playbook as of late:

1) Sell out public lands by passing Trump's big, ugly budget bill.
2) Cause a government shutdown.
3) Use antiquated legislative procedures to put even more public lands at risk.
4) Do all of this instead of prioritizing funding the government.
