We're going to court to challenge the Trump administration's decimation of Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments.

“The law has not changed. The Antiquities Act authorizes a president to do just one thing: to designate a national monument, not to dismantle it. Trump’s actions are an attack not just on the Antiquities Act, but on the nation’s rich cultural and natural heritage,” said Earthjustice Managing Attorney Heidi McIntosh.

Our forests and public lands are under attack from all sides. The Trump administration recently announced plans to rescind the bedrock Roadless Rule, putting 45 million acres of undeveloped national forest lands at risk of logging and road development.

On Capitol Hill, Congress is considering bills that would also rescind the Roadless Rule and stop any substantially similar measure from being passed in the future. That’s not to mention the disastrous Fix Our Forests Act, which would worsen wildfires and remove the ability for communities to have a voice in protecting our public lands.

These threats put our wildlife, outdoors, and clean drinking water at risk. This is an all-out attack on some of our most cherished places, which is why we’re mounting an all-out defense.

The good news: Republicans couldn't get their dirty farm bill through committee earlier this month.

The bad news: They aren't giving up. And unless they make substantive changes, this bill will continue to give corporations a free pass to keep pumping our lands and water full of toxic chemicals instead of helping families put high-quality and affordable food on the table

This week, we joined some incredible partners on Capitol Hill to advocate for federal protections against extreme heat and other climate-related weather. Many low-income houses will struggle to afford their energy bills this summer, and instead of addressing it, Congress and the Trump administration are attempting to claw back funding that would help people pay their bills.

Climate change is a public health issue as much as it is an environmental one. We must work together to ensure that our friends and neighbors don’t suffer as a result of rising temperatures and extreme weather.

🚨The Trump administration just leveled a huge attack on national monuments, shrinking Utah’s Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments by over 90%. Why? To make it easier for uranium mining, oil drilling, and off-road vehicles.

This is a huge betrayal of native Tribes and an illegal attack on some of our most cherished public spaces. Our sister organization has vowed to take legal action.
