It was a great day for Southwest Summer Ball.

Our Pony team dominated their tournament and walked away with a first place finish.

Our Peewee 2 girls battled hard and got 2nd place out of 22 teams in their tournament.

We are so proud of both teams.

Way to go!

Tonight at home is the championship game for Pony: Southwest vs Purdy at 6pm!
Please come out, cheer on our boys, and buy the food/drinks from our concession stand.

Also, good luck to our Peewee Girls tonight in Wheaton.

Lastly, we want to take a moment to thank a few groups of people without whom this program simply would not exist: our volunteer coaches, our sponsors, and the school.

To our coaches: thank you for giving your time, energy, patience, and heart to the children in our community. Many of you spent your weeknights and even weekends at the ball field instead of at home with your families. Between practices, games, communicating with parents, organizing lineups, and helping players develop their skills, you dedicated countless hours to making this season a success. Coaching is a labor of love. You volunteered your time because you care about kids and believe in the positive impact youth sports can have on their lives. You taught much more than softball and baseball. You taught teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, responsibility, and confidence. Thank you for showing up, encouraging your players, and helping create memories that will last a lifetime.

To our sponsors: thank you for investing in the children and families of our community. Your generosity helped provide uniforms, equipment, gear, and even new bases for our players this season. Because of your support, we were able to continue providing opportunities for kids to learn, grow, compete, and have fun. Every child who stepped onto the field this summer benefited from your generosity. Your contributions helped create an environment where our athletes could focus on learning the game, building friendships, and making memories. You are investing in much more than a ball program: you are investing in our youth, our families, and our community.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Southwest School, especially our administrators and maintenance staff. Thank you for allowing us to use the school's facilities and for partnering with us throughout the season. Whether it was preparing facilities, addressing maintenance issues, or responding quickly when the concession stand flooded, your support helped keep things running smoothly. So much of what you do happens behind the scenes, but it makes a tremendous difference. We are grateful for your willingness to help and for the pride you take in providing a safe and welcoming place for our kids and families.

As new directors this season, we have been humbled by the support we've received from both our coaches and sponsors. We have seen firsthand the dedication, generosity, and community spirit that make Southwest Summer Ball so special.
Southwest Summer Ball is not built by one person. It is built by parents, coaches, sponsors, volunteers, and community members who care deeply about our kids and are willing to invest their time, talents, and resources to help them succeed.
To every volunteer coach and every sponsor who helped make this season possible: thank you. Your impact reaches far beyond the ball field, and we are incredibly grateful for all you dome

We want to continue recognizing people who have made this season work.

Now, we want to point out a group of young people who have played a huge role in making this season possible: our high school students who worked as umpires and concession stand workers.

These students stepped up this summer with enthusiasm, hard work, flexibility due to so many rainouts, positive attitudes, and plenty of humor.

To our umpires: thank you for being willing to take on a job that is often much harder than it looks. Standing in the heat game after game is challenging enough, but making split-second calls while coaches, players, and fans are watching can be even tougher. You handled those challenges with maturity, professionalism, and a willingness to learn and improve. We are proud of the way you represented yourselves and our community.

To our concession stand workers: thank you for serving our families all summer long. Working in a concession stand during the hottest months of the year, especially one without air conditioning, is no easy task. You kept things moving, stayed positive, worked hard, and greeted customers with smiles even on the hottest and busiest days.

What makes us most proud isn't just the work these students did: it's the character they showed while doing it. They were dependable, helpful, respectful, open to correction, and willing to serve their community. They stepped into important roles and helped make Southwest Summer Ball a success.

As new directors, we are incredibly grateful for each and every one of them. They gave their time, energy, and effort to support younger athletes and families throughout the season, and our program is better because of them.

The next time you see one of these students, please take a moment to thank them. They are a big part of what makes Southwest Summer Ball special.
Thank you to all of our high school umpires and concession stand workers. We appreciate your hard work, your dedication, and the heart you put into working for our community this summer.

As we continue to recognize people who have helped Southwest Summer Ball, we want to take a moment to recognize two people who have made a tremendous impact on our program: Nick Patterson and Shasta Sanders.

Finding experienced adult umpires who are willing to dedicate their time to youth sports is becoming increasingly rare. Not only are Nick and Shasta willing to umpire, but they consistently go above and beyond for our league, our players, and our community.

One of the things we appreciate most is their commitment to mentoring the high school students who umpire our younger games. They often arrive early and volunteer their time to teach, encourage, and guide these young umpires as they learn the ropes. Umpiring isn't always easy—especially when navigating the pressures that can come from coaches, players, and fans—but Nick and Shasta help these students grow in confidence, knowledge, and professionalism.

As new directors this year, we have been incredibly grateful for their support. Through all the scheduling changes, field conditions, and challenges brought on by one of the rainiest seasons we've experienced, they have remained flexible, positive, and willing to help however needed.

Their love for this program, the game of baseball and softball, the kids, and our community is evident in everything they do. Southwest Summer Ball is better because of people like Nick and Shasta.

The next time you see them at the ball field, please take a moment to thank them for the countless hours they invest in our players and our program. Their dedication often happens behind the scenes, but it makes a difference every single day.

Thank you, Nick and Shasta, for your commitment, your mentorship, your flexibility, and your heart for Southwest Summer Ball. We appreciate you more than words can express.
