THE BURN BAN IS OFFICIALLY OFF!

We know, we know... being the neighborhood buzzkills for the last few weeks didn’t exactly get us a front-row seat at many block parties. But since we’re finally friends again, you are officially cleared to light ‘em up—as long as you give us a ring before you strike the match!

📞 Give us a shout first:
• 417-847-4911 (Barry County Non-Emergency)
• 417-271-3642 (ERGM Station 1)

It’s quick, it’s easy, and it ensures we can tell your concerned neighbors across the lake it’s under control. Help us help you; because while we love a good fire, we are notoriously bad party guests. Nothing kills a "cozy backyard vibe" faster than a bunch of big red trucks showing up uninvited— we tend to bring way too much water and absolutely zero snacks.

Barry County burn ban has been lifted. If you plan a controlled burn notify dispatch at 417-847-4911 so Fire Departments don't get toned needlessly.

🔥🚫 BARRY COUNTY BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🚫🔥

Due to ongoing drought conditions and continued dry weather in the forecast, the Barry County Commission has implemented a countywide burn ban effective immediately.

We are asking everyone to please do not burn until conditions improve and the ban is officially lifted. Even small fires can quickly get out of control in these dry conditions.

Please note:
• This burn ban applies countywide within Barry County jurisdiction.
• The county does not have authority over state parks (Roaring River) or federal land, including Mark Twain National Forest.
• If you are camping or recreating on state or federal property, please check directly with those agencies for their specific fire restrictions.

Our volunteers stand ready to respond, but prevention is always the best protection. Let’s work together to keep our community, property, and firefighters safe.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Stay safe. 🚒

Please! NO OUTSIDE BURNING! We don't want what Texas , Oklahoma and Kansas have been experiencing lately.

‼️⚠️ New Red Flag warning is now in effect for much of Missouri Thursday afternoon and early evening.
⚠️ The combination of low humidity, strong westerly winds, and dry vegetation will support dangerous fire behavior.
⚠️A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for parts of northern Missouri until 7PM tonight.

We won't be at the Fire Department this year, come see us at City Hall.

🚨 Drought Conditions Worsening 🚨

The latest drought monitor shows conditions in our area continuing to deteriorate. With no measurable precipitation in the forecast, the risk for fire spread is increasing daily.

- Please use extreme caution with any open flames outdoors — including campfires, burn barrels, grills, and equipment that may produce sparks. Even a small fire can quickly get out of control under these dry conditions.

Let’s all do our part to protect our community and prevent unnecessary fire danger.

April 12th Washburn Fire responded to a structure/vegetation fire in McDonald County assisted by Whiterock and Stella. As we got ready to leave we discovered 1 of our backpack blowers missing. $700 value stolen while helping people out. Disgraceful. It is a Stihl BR C-E 800 Magnum if you should find one let us know.
