Washburn Fire is currently working a large vegetation Fire with Stella Fire in McDonald County. Barry and McDonald County continue to be under a BURN BAN. Please no outside burning of any kind until conditions improve. The property you save might be your own

If you haven't seen it yet Washburn Fire Protection District now has a Fire Danger sign on the front of station 1. It was furnished by Missouri Department of Conservation and the U.S. Forest Service. We will keep it updated as to the wildfire risk for our area. As a reminder we are still under a burn ban along with other districts in our area and all of McDonald County. Be safe and be smart. As Smokey says "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires".

Last night at around midnight, a semi dropped it's trailer on Highway 37 close to Hickory Street. WFD responded and conducted traffic control until the scene could be cleared.

We had a very productive night at fire training. New volunteers came out tonight for the first time. Jason Shrum and Ty Howard put them through the paces. Training involved hooking the engine to a hydrant, operating the deck gun, and stretching fire hose line. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact us!

A burn ban is now in effect for Barry County Missouri. It was issued by the Barry County commissioners effective immediately.
