While searching through our archives yesterday, we discovered this rare photo in a scrapbook belonging to a Waseca woman, Mattie Murphy! Especially timely since it had been at the MN State Fair back in the day. Wouldn’t it be great to find the original color poster? The WCHS archives is a treasure trove!

Once again, our research team at WCHS is asking for help from the public. For months we have been piecing together the history of the giant flag which was found in our fairgrounds building, and little by little have found a few clues. We recently found a photo in the Waseca Journal of 1940. The caption identifies the flag as being a creation of Nina Clement and others. She lived her life in Waseca, born in 1893 and died in 1974. Anyone who can give us more information about her and the work of the others on the flag would be very much appreciated! Please read the caption with the flag photo.
