HERoes in Deed

HERoes in Deed HERoes in Deed seeks to carry on the spirit of LTC Jaimie E. Leonard's life and service to her country.

Jaimie grew up in Warwick, NY and loved to run for health and to make a difference. This inaugural year, we will host both a 5K and a Kids Run in her honor. With enough support, we hope to be able to fund two scholarships for students at Warwick Valley High School as well as support the military community in ways that mattered to Jaimie. In the future, we plan to expand the HERo Run to include more running choices.

This past week, something remarkable happened. You showed up for Jaimie. You shared her words, sat with her question, and reminded us why HERoes in Deed exists , It's because communities like ours are strongest when they serve each other.

We are grateful for every share, every comment, every deed done in her honor. Even and especially you did quietly when no one else was watching. Jaimie would have loved every single one of you. 🌻

The mission doesn't stop here. Please stay with us.

Share this post β€” help more people find out about mission and be inspired by Jaimie to do more, in deed.

Today, June 8, marks 13 years since Army LTC Jaimie E. Leonard was killed in action in Afghanistan. She was 39 years old. She was a soldier, a daughter, a sister, a friend, an aunt, and a woman who believed, with everything she had, that each of us could do more.

Today we don't just mourn Jaimie. We celebrate her. We carry her words. We act on her challenge.

"Take measure of what have you done for your country and ask yourself if you could do more."

Today, we answer: yes. πŸ’›

If Jaimie's story moves you, please consider helping us do more and donate at heroesindeed.org and share this post so more people can follow her lead and hear her voice.

Two days from now marks 12 years since Jaimie was taken from her family, her community, and all of us who carry her memory.

She is one of thousands of families who have given everything. To them we say: we have not forgotten. We never will. And we honor your sacrifice not just in words β€” but in deed.

If you know a Gold Star family, reach out this weekend. Let them know they are not alone.

Every story you share is a ripple. Every act of service you perform in Jaimie's honor shows that her words β€” written over a decade ago in a small-town newspaper β€” are still moving people to action.

Keep sharing. Tag us. And keep going.

Jaimie wrote that we should honor our heroes "in deed and not just giving thanks, parades, or planting flowers on graves." Strong words. She meant them.

A deed doesn't have to be big. It can be a meal dropped off. A call made. An hour volunteered. A donation given. Supplies donated. What deed will you do this week?

Army Lieutenant Colonel Jaimie E. Leonard was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 8, 2013. But before that day β€” and because of who she was β€” she spent her life asking people to do more, give more, be more for each other.

HERoes in Deed exists because of Jaimie. This week, we honor her by carrying her mission forward to inspire communities serving those who serve. πŸ’›

Jaimie believed heroes weren't only found on battlefields. They're the teacher who stays late, the firefighter who runs in, the volunteer who shows up every single week without being asked.

This week, look around you. Who in your community is quietly serving? Tag them below. πŸ‘‡
