Did you know there are 19 towns in RI with local historic districts? And that within those, there are about 8,000 recognized buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places? That is the largest number of historic buildings per capita in the United States!!!!! Yay, Rhode Island!

Public Notice:

“Please join us Wednesday October 14th in celebrating DEM’s grant award from the Restore America’s Estuaries program for funding towards Floodplain Restoration at the Pawtuxet Depot Property.

The event includes attendance from Senator Jack Reed, the US Environmental Protection Agency, the RI Dept. of Environmental Management, Restore America’s Estuaries, and the New England Environmental Finance Center. The event will announce 18 new community technical assistance awards and $2.3 million in new grants to restore clean water, healthy ecosystems, and sustainable communities in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, funded through EPA’s Southeast New England Program (SNEP).”

When: 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2026

The event will conclude with a guided tour of DEM’s Pawtuxet Depot Floodplain Restoration project.
