VICTA is offering a free, 4-week virtual education and skills group for family members and supporters of people impacted by substance use. The group will provide practical information about substance use, recovery and treatment options, along with skills for supporting a loved one, managing your own emotions and connecting with others who understand.

Join us on September 30 for an informative webinar exploring substance use disorders among adolescents and young adults.

Presented by Jean Bagnati, LCSW, LICSW, this training will examine the prevalence and risk factors of substance use disorders in young populations, connections with co-occurring mental health conditions, screening and identification, and different pathways to recovery and wellness.

NAMI Rhode Island is offering a FREE two-day Family-to-Family Mental Health Support Program designed to provide education, resources, and support for family members, significant others, and friends.

Led by NAMI-trained family members with lived experience, this evidence-based program offers valuable information and tools to help participants better understand and support their loved ones.

On September 2, RICAREs: The Recovery Community Organization for RI is hosting an “I’m in Recovery & I Vote” Community Forum in Providence, bringing together local and state candidates for a conversation about the policies, programs, and resources that shape recovery outcomes in Rhode Island.

This is an opportunity for community members, advocates, and people with lived experience to share what matters most and hear directly from candidates about where they stand on issues affecting individuals and families impacted by addiction.

Ellie Mental Health in Johnston is now offering play therapy for children ages 3+ and is currently accepting new clients.

Play therapy gives children a safe, supportive way to express feelings and experiences that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. Through play and creativity, children can build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, work through big emotions, and strengthen communication and social skills.

This can be a valuable resource for children experiencing anxiety, behavioral challenges, difficult transitions, changes at home or school, or other stressful experiences.
