🚑 🚨 🚑

One of the most common things we hear when responding to minor ailments or injury is:

“We called Rescue so we can be seen faster. They’ll get us right in if you bring us…”

This is not at all true.

Every emergency room has a triage nurse to whom we give a report upon arrival at the ER. That RN determines when you are seen, based on the severity of your symptoms and how busy the ER is at that moment.

In fact, if a person’s symptoms warrant it, the triage RN will direct us to wheel a patient into the very same waiting room that walk-ins are sitting in.

If you feel you’re in the midst of an emergency, don’t overthink it and never hesitate to call us. We’ll sort it out for you and ensure you receive the appropriate care, either way.

However, just to dispel this myth, as much as our friends in the ER may love (or sometimes want to strangle) us, 😂 there’s no such thing as a fire department fast pass. How quickly you’re seen will be determined by the ER, and your mode of transportation there is not a factor in that decision, even if you arrive in the cool truck with all the lights.

It’s almost Fill The Boot time!!

Keep an eye out for us beginning on Monday, August 31st and continuing through Thursday, Sept 3rd. Our members will be collecting on duty near their fire stations as well as volunteering their time off-duty particularly on Bald Hill Road.

As a reminder, 100% of your donations go directly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. We do not benefit financially in any way.

We thank you for your donations and patience in advance!

🚒🔥 This Labor Day weekend, fire fighters across America are answering the call once again.

More than 400 Fill the Boot fundraisers across 40+ states will help advance research, expand specialized care, strengthen advocacy, and support people living with ALS, muscular dystrophy, and more than 300 neuromuscular diseases. 💪

This year also marks an expanded Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) collaboration focused on understanding why fire fighters face an increased risk of developing ALS and how research can help change the future. 💙💛

For more than 72 years, IAFF members have raised more than $720 million through Fill the Boot. Together, we can keep fueling progress and supporting families every step of the way.

We’re glad Mayor Frank Picozzi and the City of Warwick have joined in on this fight.

As we recently shared, the International Association of Fire Fighters is leading the charge to bring the costs and delivery times for apparatus back down to earth.

Class action lawsuits such as the Opioid Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) and related state lawsuits and the To***co Master Settlement Agreement have resulted in real world funding for states and municipalities to purchase equipment for departments. It is very wise to include Warwick in any potential windfalls from the fire apparatus class action suit and we commend the City for doing so.

Bottom line, the City and our union are doing everything they can to save the taxpayers money and provide reliable, safe apparatus for US to work in, to be there for YOU.

We’re in this fight together. 🚒 🚑

This weekend we were invited to present the Colors for the National Anthem at Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts preseason game.

It is always such an incredible honor. Our thanks to the Patriots for having us out.

Fire apparatus and ambulances are paid for with your tax dollars. Our union, the International Association of Fire Fighters, is leading the fight to address skyrocketing costs and delivery backlogs. The goal is to bring costs and delivery times back down to earth which will save you money and get reliable trucks that protect you into service faster.

Following more than a year of IAFF advocacy, a bipartisan group of federal lawmakers has introduced a joint resolution directing the Federal Trade Commission

🛥️ 🛶 🚤 🏊🏻

Every year beginning in the late spring and running through the summer, we train for water rescues. From a man overboard deep out in the bay to shore based rescue, pond rescue and swift/river rescue, we do our best to be prepared for it all.

The truth is that no matter how much we train, you are best positioned to protect yourself and your loved ones. Please read and heed the warning signs at Conimicut Point. Please wear or have ready proper flotation devices when boating. Don’t swim alone. Most importantly, please keep an eye on not just your loved ones, but everyone around you in the water. You may be the one who gets help on the way and time is always of the essence.

Enjoy all the water Warwick has to offer but please be safe!
