Tom has been a part of the family since almost the beginning. His presence will be missed and the love and joy he spread will always be remembered. His smile lit up any room he walked into. We look forward to the day where we see that smile again. We love you and miss you.
Thomas “Tom” Howard Pennington, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in the care of Parkview Kosciusko Hospital of Warsaw at the age of 74.
Born on November 5, 1951, in Vandalia, Illinois. One of two sons born to Evelyn (Morell) and Howard Pennington. Tom was a 1969 graduate of Vandalia Community High School in Vandalia, Illinois.
Throughout his life, Tom frequently shared his fondest childhood memory of attending St. Louis Cardinals baseball games with his father. Those special trips sparked a lifelong devotion to the Cardinals. Tom's passion for the sport later led him to coach Little League at Boggs Park in Warsaw alongside his dear friend, Eric, during his early years as a resident of Fellowship Missions. He had a profound heart for children and loved sharing the game, hoping to inspire a deep love for baseball in the next generation.
Though Tom lived a life full of ups and downs, his final years were defined by purpose and community. He resided at Fellowship Missions in Warsaw, where he also worked as the beloved Men’s Manager. Tom dedicated himself to giving back, serving and helping others on a daily basis. He was well-known for his love of sweets, real-sugar Pepsi, and burgers. Reserved yet deeply sensitive, Tom possessed a servant's heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and an amazing smile. He will be dearly missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known this great man.
He leaves behind his brother Philip Pennington of Quincy, Illinois, and many dear friends that became his family at Fellowship Missions in Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom’s life will be celebrated with a service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Redpath-Fruth-Byers Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Jeff Pfeifer. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
