Spring 2026 - a retrospective.
Once we play a couple more days of softball in 2 weeks, we'll have officially put our 75th year of youth athletics at Warsaw Little League to bed.
There's a lot of grass that grows whether we like it or not. So many uniforms have to be coordinated, ordered, and distributed. Umpires have to be identified, built-up, and put behind catchers. Those hot dogs neither buy nor grill themselves.
It seems like a lot, and frankly it is.
Then... You get to walk around the park with a gaggle of people watching a couple dozen 11 to 13 year-olds go back and forth in a truly great baseball game. It was loud. Loud in the kind of way that makes you smile. It was tense. Again, that affirming kind of tension that comes from doing something really worth doing. It was heartbreaking. But heartbreaking in the way that heals pretty quickly, leaving you a bit better.
It was baseball. Played the way it was meant to be played. By a bunch of kids with their school buddies on the other side of the field and their neighbor in the dugout with them.
Baseball has that way of filling up your tank. So yeah, we'll handle more grass, uniforms, umpires, and even hot dogs.
Thanks for being a part of another great season.
Fall ball anyone?
