🌿 FFA Day at the Capitol 🌿

We had the honor of having four of our Horticulture students participate in FFA Day at the Capitol. Students had the opportunity to meet with Delegates and share what FFA means to them, tour the Capitol building, and meet the new Governor of Virginia.

The following students represented our program:

Zion Barber (WHS)
Gage McCutchen (WHS)
Kameron Maith (NHS)
Jaylin Terrebonne (CBHS)

We are incredibly proud of these students for representing our school and the FFA so well! 🌟

🌱 Worm Farms at Work! 🪱

Recently, our Horticulture class received four worm farms and wasted no time getting started! Students prepared the farms with help from our Culinary Arts class, who contributed food scraps along with compost we’ve been creating.

Through this hands-on experience, students are learning all about vermicomposting and the many benefits it provides for soil health and sustainability. A great example of teamwork, learning, and turning scraps into something valuable! 🌎♻️

Students in our Introduction to Engineering and Design course were challenged to design and build an expandable tool capable of safely reaching and retrieving an egg from at least 10 inches away. 🥚🔧

This hands-on project encouraged students to apply the engineering design process, think creatively, test prototypes, and solve problems while working within real-world constraints. From brainstorming and sketching to building and refining their designs, students demonstrated impressive teamwork, innovation, and perseverance throughout the project.

Great work to our future engineers for rising to the challenge! 👏
