Town baseball, must’ve been great!

Town team baseball allowed small towns across America a piece of the sensation that had been sweeping the nation since the 19th century. Local teams competed against one another, with results and games posted in the papers.

CHEERS TO WARREN & ELIZA
We celebrated a “first” today as one of the 2016 9U Titans, Warren Bernard, started a new Team of his own. A big Titans cheer goes out to Warren & Eliza as they began their walk together surrounded by loving family, friends and Teammates. We all were so thankful to share the special moment with a great young man and his family, and we wish the couple joy and blessings in their bright future as Warren & Eliza Bernard.

TITANS 15U SWEET SUMMER RIDE
What an action-packed, exciting and productive season our Boys in Blue (gray, orange) had for 2026 Summer! Nearly 30 games played starting in May and culminating end of July with the very competitive Virginia Commonwealth Games Tourney at Radford and Virginia Tech, where the boys competed in the 16U Open division. Along the way they battled in some great events including the PBR RVA Open, the VBT GMU Camp/Showcase, Dynamic NOVA Classic and the Lumber Yards Walk-Off in PA. The Squad also took home a ‘chip in WV at the Armed Forces Slugfest and brought home the coolest hardware ever. Congrats Team on a terrific summer of baseball and thanks to Coach Stern and Staff for devising a highly competitive Goldilocks schedule of not too much & not too little for this very important age of development.

TITANS 16U FINISH SEASON STRONG
The boys of summer closed out their 20206 summer season in grand style last week with a convincing W on the road at Centreville HS. Cohen Racer got the dub with 4IP and only 1H allowed. McKinley Tolliver closed with a clean inning of zeros with 2K. The offensive onslaught was paced by Brody Cusic-Boyd with 3H including 2-2B and 3RBI and Noah Andrews collected 4RBI on 2-2B with 2R. Joey Pendleton, McKinley Tolliver & Tyler Scott also smashed 2B. Damian Yoder had 3H, Keegan Jensen had 2H and Bryce Taylor and ayden_d21 each collected a hit. Team had a total of 21 RBI. Great final showing young men, now for some well deserved rest from competition before beginning again shortly. Well done 16U on a competitive and productive season!

TITANS 14U CLOSE AS CHAMPIONS
A long and bittersweet post but worth your time. Last weekend our 14U Squad ended their amazing run on the highest of notes - 5-0 and champions. These young men carried themselves the Titans Way throughout their time wearing the Navy & Orange and we’re so proud of their accomplishments. Throughout their journey these Titans were developed in their character and baseball skills, both of which will carry them through the next chapter and beyond.

Head Coach Matt Thorne has led this team from the beginning. Starting at 8U and over 7 years, 13 seasons (lost 1 to covid), countless tourneys and championships, a memorable Cooperstown experience, and many ups and downs, Coach Thorne has guided this Team to this successful conclusion. His tireless year-round giving of his time and the big and small sacrifices he’s made, with help from longtime assistant Zac Schaeffer, is a blueprint for what the Blue Ridge Titans aim to be. By the examples these men set of passionate and dedicated volunteerism, they’ll help the Titans continue to offer low-cost and high-value baseball development.

Baseball loves metrics, but just like individuals, Team stats don’t always tell the whole story. This Team went 211-109-8 over those seven years, a remarkable record by any accounting. However, numbers don’t tell you that they always sought out the best competition. Nor do they explain the massive increase in the skills of the players through great coaching, the self-improvement efforts by those coaches, or the dedication required by all. Records also don’t tell of the huge contributions that these Titans are making to their school teams and their communities. Those of us who’ve observed since Fall of 2019 know the lasting impact that Matt Thorne and his staff over the years have provided to area baseball families, and we’re extremely grateful for it.

Finally, a big shout out to the four original Titans in the last pic: Jackson Thorne, Cooper Schaeffer, Rett Colvin and Mason Schaeffer . All of our players are considered Titans for Life, but these young men are a little extra. Best of luck and Godspeed to everyone associated with this amazing TEAM!

Tomorrow in Fauquier a Recruiting Coordinator/Assistant Coach from a VA D1 university is holding hitting clinics for youth & middle school and high school players. ODU plays in the stellar Sun Belt Conference and is spending $24M on stadium renovations and recruits the state well. It’s hard for me to believe but there are still spots available for these small-group settings. TITANS 16U SLIDE INTO SUMMER WIN
The elder statesmen of the Titans traveled this week to a between-tourneys tilt in Fairfax. went 5 strong with 7 K’s and only 1 ER while & .yoder.13 combined to close it out. Catcher Alex Bauer controlled the staff while negating the opponent’s run game: 0 SB’s and 1 CS. The offense was paced with hits from (RBI), (2B, 2RBI) , & (2B, 2RBI). Finish your season strong young men!
