New today on CRR Academy: https://www.crracademy.org/course/wisconsin-strategic-plan

The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services Fire Prevention and Fire Department Safety & Health Program provides support, resources, and high-quality data to stakeholders across the state to strengthen fire prevention, firefighter safety and health, training and education, and community risk reduction efforts, with the ultimate goal of reducing civilian and firefighter injuries and fatalities. To support statewide community risk reduction initiatives, Wisconsin Emergency Response Incident Data is analyzed to identify trends in incident responses, resource deployment, staffing, injuries, and fatalities.

Today I had the privilege of presenting the Illinois Statewide Risk Assessment to fire service leaders and CRR practitioners across the state, and I could not be more proud of what this document represents for Illinois.

This is the first comprehensive, data-driven Statewide Risk Assessment ever completed for Illinois, covering all 102 counties, 1,107 fire departments, and five years of fire incident data. It documents 659 civilian fire fatalities from 2020 to 2024 and gives the Illinois fire service the most precise targeting framework it has ever had for community risk reduction investment.

None of this happens without the right partners. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Illinois State Fire Marshal Michele Pankow and the entire Illinois CRR Coalition for their commitment to this work and for the leadership that made a project of this scale possible. The collaboration across the state's fire service community is exactly what evidence-based CRR requires.

A very special thank you to Matt Perez and JC Fultz, whose contributions to the completion of the risk assessment document were invaluable. This work reflects their dedication as much as anyone's. Special thanks to Marsha Giesler for helping to lead the charge and build the coalition for countless years.

659 lives lost over five years. The data tells us where the risk is, who is carrying the greatest burden, and where prevention investment will generate the greatest return. Illinois now has the foundation to move from building capacity to deploying resources with precision.

Data before decisions. One mission. One team. One framework.

The Muffin Cares program uses animal assisted interventions (AAI) to facilitate learning and targeted outreach messaging. This outreach effort is breaking barriers to provide this South Carolina community with lifesaving education, cross-agency connections, and is bringing hope to many through the Muffin Cares program.

The Discovery Data Hub was originally launched by Vision 20/20 in 2019 as one of the first national efforts designed to give fire departments direct access to community risk data. In 2026, Vision 20/20 partnered with Arborlook Insights to continue and expand that mission. The FREE community risk profiles and fire service incident data available on this site are the continuation of that program. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is quickly becoming a tactical reality for the Fire Service. This course will explore considerations when implementing AI in the fire service.

Artificial Intelligence holds immense potential to revolutionize fire service operations, but its safe deployment requires more than just new hardware. Before AI can be effectively used in the field, how AI is developed, tested, and used as an effective tool may be considered. This course provides a...

The Vision 20/20 Project is now accepting applications for 10 new members of the Champions and Emerging Leaders (CEL) Group, a standing committee of the Vision 20/20 Advisory Council.

If you are a fire service professional who is actively engaged in Community Risk Reduction (CRR), passionate about advancing the field at a national level, and ready to contribute alongside some of the most forward-thinking practitioners in the country, we want to hear from you.

We are intentional about this cohort. Of the 10 open seats, five are reserved for professionals serving in Operations roles within the fire service. This is a deliberate effort to ensure that the operational perspective, the view from the apparatus floor, the battalion, and the incident command post, is represented at the table where national CRR strategy is shaped. If you are a company officer, battalion chief, operations division chief, or similar, your perspective is specifically needed.

As a CEL member, you will:
• Participate directly in national strategic planning and ex*****on alongside experienced Vision 20/20 mentors
• Work across traditional fire service silos with a diverse, inclusive group of practitioners from across the country
• Engage with national organizations and strategic business alliance partners at the forefront of CRR innovation
• Advocate for evidence-based solutions and best practices within the U.S. fire and emergency services

This is a two-year term commitment. The CEL group meets monthly on the first Wednesday at 12:00 PM EST via Zoom, and members are expected to attend a minimum of seven meetings per calendar year. Participation requires authorization from your fire chief and immediate supervisor.

You can apply to the Champions & Emerging Leaders Group through this link.

Learn more about the CEL Group and current members at:

https://strategicfire.org/advisory-council-groups/cel-group/

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We encourage you to apply early, as seats for this cohort are limited to 10.

This is an opportunity to do something that matters beyond your jurisdiction. We hope you will consider it.
