The mission of The Heritage Chorale of Cleveland is to preserve music of the sacred variety, primarily the Negro Spiritual to audiences locally and abroad.

The Heritage Chorale welcomes singers from throughout the Northeast Ohio area. The Chorale’s mission and purpose is to sing music of a sacred variety, anthems, hymns and especially the “Negro Spiritual”. What is most important is that we preserve our American history through spirituals, which is the first American music. Although the Chorale is an enjoyable social experience for its members, it maintains a serious approach with regard to worship, musical standards and commitment. The Heritage Chorale was founded by the late Sylvia L. Perry in 2002. Since that time, the Chorale has embarked on an exciting journey with the mission of sharing music of the sacred variety, primarily the Negro Spiritual, to audiences locally and internationally. The journey has led the Chorale to local performances in the Cleveland area, throughout the state of Ohio, as well as internationally in Vienna, Austria, Rome, Italy (including St. Peter’s Basilica), Florence, Italy, Venice, and Varese Italy. The Chorale consists of close to 40 members representing seven denominations and a variety of different churches. The members come together to share their passion and love of music and to spread that love through songs, narration, and guest participants. The Chorale continues its 501(c)(3) status as a nonprofit organization and endeavors to engage in opportunities to teach about the music we sing. We are poised to worship God through song, incorporating passionate renderings and selections that will bring our music to audiences near and far. Welcoming singers of all ages and musical experiences, we use music to build community and invigorate our city. Please contact our Chorale President, Curtis Ross at (216) 371-3166.
